Spelling, for sure. While many English words are spelled phonetically, there are so many that aren't that it makes it difficult to learn to read and write when compared to languages that are primarily phonetic. Just think of the many ways the combination "-ough" is pronounced. (tough, trough, through, thorough, bough) All other languages have synonyms, homophones, slang expressions, and polysemy problems.
