I dont WANT to pay a techie... pricey stuff. I just want to fix this up for my niece who dropped it. I am not a computer novice but I havent experience fixing a laptop.

First of all...very odd picture you have there, kinda scary.
But, replaceing the screen isn't very difficult. I've done it many times and even my first time went pretty smoothly. The hardest part (to me) is removing the front plastic bezel. It seems you're going to break it, but then it comes off..
Anyway, I would buy the screen from a company like ScreenTek...they also have instructions on how to properly remove the screeen.

Go here http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac/ click on your model G4, click on the part you want to install and then Begin Installation.
