conserve--water especially--stop using air conditioners so much--contributes to ozone! clean up the waterways where fish are---
Stop taking so many baths unnecessarily! Stop running water when not needed. Turn off lights when not in use! Stop allowing TV's to be on when no one is watching them
Most off all make it a point to teach your children the importance of conserving things like water and electricity--get them in the habits early on in turning off lights, tv's not in use etc.---tell them about the water and how important it is for them to conserve it and why and especially tell them if they don't how it will effect future generations (their kids)! Most of all be the role model--children usually learn more by what they see parents and other adults do than by what the parents actually tell them! --This is one way in which the sins of the parents are visited upon the children---We have to be doers not just sayers!

That's a pretty big supposition to make - the world is being destroyed by mankind. Really? I think the world is a lot more resilient than you imagine. The world, and its people, adjust to ensure that we do not destroy ourselves. We as individuals can do nothing to "preserve the world". For example, driving your car less or switching from a gas guzzler to a fuel efficient model has so insignificant an impact on the environment as a whole that it doesn't even matter. Those things that do matter, such as chemical contamination of ground water, methane emissions from the cattle industry and honey bee die-offs are beyond your control. Stop worrying so much about what will happen in the future and be more concerned about the here and now.

The world is not and cannot be destroyed by mankind or any kind. She is well able to look after herself. It is up to us to do the same. We achieve this by attracting to ourselves what we focus on, wanted or unwanted.
Mother Nature is at this time beginning a spring clean-up. A little water here, a little fire there, a little wind here, shake things up a little there, and so on. Her timing is perfect and well matched as always. This reminds me of seeing two wildfires in Northern California. It hit a house here, missed the next one or two, then hit a couple more, all hit and misses were as focus determined. For example, one our friends had just purchased a large rambling house with a rotten roof. They wanted better but that is all they could afford. Although the house was right next to a road, it burned down completely with all buildings included on their property, barn, garage, sheds, etc. as well as most of their belongings. Though they had not made the first mortgage payment, they had been forced to get a large insurance policy based on the square footage. In a flash they had their brand new dream home. Of course it is difficult to go back and show you how all the others figured in on the equation, but the law of attraction never fails. If you want your future generations to have a happy life, then show them how you are happy. Their being will attract their life.

Good question and it scares the hell out of me, if we carry on blindly the way we are going in 50 years we won't have any animal life or plant life and the arrogance of man believing he is master of this world is causing this,we are the only fools who literally s h i t where we live, when any remaining plants that are left are contaminated and poisonous, when the sea is choked up on pollution and dead fish, when people are starving let them try to eat all the money in their banks then. The only way to preserve the earth is to wipe out humanity but I think perhaps the Earth may do this for us,look at the tsunamis, earthquakes etc this is due to global warming,if we harm the Earth much more it will very likely shrug us off with a major catastrophe like a flood or an ice age perhaps and the way things are going the sooner the better.Jo xxxxx

Mankind is a plague that will haunt this world until the plague is gone. There is no such thing as preserving the world for future generations if you are truly interested in the world and not just mankind having a comfortable life in the world.

Well, a friend of mine and I discovered a chilling thing once. Glitter. We are destroying the world with glitter. It gets everywhere, it is impossible to destroy. We put it in everything from makeup to candles. Where is it all going? I think that one day there will be so much glitter that it will be floating on the air, getting into our eyes and lungs... Cutting us, destroying our insides... I say to preserve the world we must find a way to destroy this threat! The glitter MUST be eradicated or we are condemning our children's children to a most horrible death! Join me, brothers and sisters, on my quest to rid the world of this horror...
Oh, and llamas...
sorry, I couldn't help myself. This is something my friend and I used to talk about... Kind of like an "oh my God!!!" kind of thing.. like... mock-seriousness, I guess. It was fun though and I miss him... Frankly, I think that the world is a little too big and complicated for us to "destroy". I know that we harm the environment, but the world has been around much longer than we have, and it always bounces back... Even if that bouncing means mass extinction and a total reformation of the surface. Humanity may become extinct in a few generations, but I pretty much doubt that we will ever actually "destroy" the world.

To begin with, man is not destroying the world. He is making it unfit for most mammals to live in.
We cannot stop the change, but we can remove our input to it. Which we will sooner or later. If we don't, we'll cook and then, after a few years, the warming will slow down until it hits a high equilibrium. Then it will slowly reverse, possibly without mankind being present.
We went through this once before, naturally, and it almost got us. With our added input, nature might succeed where it failed before..

Just a two-point formula
Curb greed
Reduce pace
The question is who will bell the cat.
The world leaders have agreed on an eight-years programme to stop the greenhouse effect from worsening.... even if it can be implemented, it would just not be enough. More basic changes as I have mentioned above are absolutely essential.

Not really feasible Ikerro. If we could just reduce the number of future generations then we would be preserving the planet for them dont you think?

First thing is to seperate the fact from the fiction. Then once the true facts are brought to light it's up to each individual to make the appropriate adjustments, sacrifices and changes to do their part.
Until the problems are universally understood and agreed upon change won't happen in any great measure.
