Escape. You ran away from bombs, soldiers and war. You went to a river. It is said that "you never step into the same river twice". Once you escaped the war zone, you felt relief and you never want to be there again. According to your dream you will never go there again.

You have been at war with yourself over some personal issue. You were releived before you died in the dream, because you have put your issue to rest, you have made a transition, "died" to the fallout of the problem. That someone else caused you to die in the dream suggests that a friend or relative intervened on your behalf, and was instrumental on helping you resolve the problem.

Some accounts of those with NDE (near death experience) related that a sense of relief were felt during that 'window of demise'. It looks like you were in that state too.

The was is some conflict or stress you're running away from. But you don't think you're going to be able to avoid it in the end, so when you're finally caught and killed, you feel relieved that you won't have to keep on avoiding the situation.
