Some Conservatives do too, but you can address that issue with your own question and your own 5 points .

Why do they find it oh so necessary to bash Christians ? Even if they don't believe in God, why can't they answer questions with respect instead of this new-found blaming of Christians for ridiculous or even archaic things ?

BTW, . ... Jesus is just alright with me, Jesus is just alright, oh yeah, . . Jesus is just alright with me. . .Jesus is just alright. . . . . .I don't care what they may say. . . I don't care what they may do. . I don't care what they may say. . . .Jesus is just alright. . . OH YEAH

Jesus is actually more than just 'alright' with me. . . I Love Him dearly and I hope you do too !!

I think a lot of them are too "sophisticated" to believe in God. In reality, many are Humanists. Their belief system buts Humans (themselves) at the center of the universe. I think they hate Christians & Jews because we insist on worshipping God & don't worship them.

Jesus obviously didn't lead you far enough from this land as you are still around to write you silly question. You say that people bash Christians. Well, it has been that way for 2000 years. Why should now be any different? I know some of the statements made by people are outrageous but they are expressing their opinion, which they have the right to do. You and I may disagree with them but they do have the right. Also remember what one person calls bashing may not be what another calls bashing. Much of this stuff one must take into perespective and see that if peope are making such statements they are doing so before millions of people who may be on YA at the time. All those people could see how stupid they are. So who benefits from such statements? The one who makes them or the one who ignores them because they don't believe the statements to be true. Offering "proof" may be worth a consideration of what they are saying but if you are strong in your faith there will be NOTHING that will change it. If you are unsure than you need to do some soul searching.

The liberal bashing of Christians has nothing to do with a belief in God. Liberals consider that a quaint superstition held by the uneducated, unsophisticated, and Neanderthal working class. What bothers liberals about Christians is judgementalisim. In order to be a Christian one must hold the opinion that some behavior is good and some behavior is bad, therefore one must be judgmental. It is impossible fora Christian to think that abortion is simply a choice that if Dick and Jane get married it is the same for society as if Dick and Rick get married. Being judgmental is the worst sin a liberal can commit. It is not that liberals believe in nothing it is that they believe in everything.

There is a huge amt. of people who believe that Christianity and Christian Fundamentalists are one in the same. Thats where the bashing comes from.
The Fundies have given us all a huge tarnish. Just as small portions of all groups have been tarnished some how.
Its like being racist because you believe all Blacks steal car stereos, or being sexist because you believe all women are indecisive or dependent on men, or thinking all gays are flamboyant pedophiles.
Ignorance is ignorance, it doesnt' know a political affiliation.

Oh, a Dobbie Brothers fan, huh? Well, that's all right with me too! I'm with you, Earnest.

Oops! I went long, again, so here's a summary for those who are too busy to read it all: It's easier to dismiss God-lovers and do-gooders as quacks, than to fess-up to one's own misdeeds and strive for taking a better path tomorrow.

As for "What a Fool Believes," I learned one of several possible answers to your question from an elderly gentleman I know. I'll use Bill Clinton's widely-publicized, less-than-honorable, personal behavior as an example.

The elderly friend of mine said that when someone comes along who behaves with lascivious behavior as Clinton engaged in, it gives the illusion of legitimacy to others' own misguided ways. Stuffing Lewinsky's face repeatedly as Clinton did? Nah, that's not sex ... No problem! Lying under oath no matter who you're smearing or hurting? Nah, that doesn't matter either. Issuing pardons to your buddies in the last hours of your administration? Nah, once again, no problem ... It's ALL legal, of course. And pretending to not know the meaning of the word "is"? Sure, any and all excuses are perfectly okay.

You see, THESE kinds of people look for excuses to do what they want, when they want. Instead of "looking up" to perform in ways you'd want to put on your résumé and be proud of, they look to rationalize their behavior every which way they can. It's like dope addicts. Who do addicts hang around with? Yes, other addicts. If dope addicts worked as church janitors, maybe, or surrounded themselves with the seeds of prosperity instead of the devil's poison, they might get somewhere with their fight to overcome their addiction.

A good religious foundation can certainly help. But the first step toward being a better person means admitting and confronting one's own misdeeds and seeing about correcting these problems and making restitution, where possible. Some who can't or won't take that first step would rather "write-off" God (or "god," if you prefer). In their love-starved, greed-filled minds, forsaking one's principles is easier than striving for goodness, especially when you've got the likes of Clinton to "admire" and serve as your role model.

I think people (liberals/ conservatives, etc) feel threatened because Christians are a group of people that they can't win over. Christians make then feel immoral - whether or not that's justified, I don't know.
I do believe our country was founded on Christian principles - morality is important to our success - I'm not sure what kind of a future we'd have without it. Personally, those who think religion is a bad thing can choose to live in one of the many countries in the world who do not place an emphasis on christianity or morality. When 85% of the country admits to being Christian, it's a shame that we have to bend over for the 15% that aren't but who like to whine and cry a lot.

Well, liberalism at its core teaches that nobody is greater than anybody else. That we are all sinners basically, except for liberals themselves who are the eilte of society and dont deserved to be judged. Everyone else does. Christianity on the other hand issues judgment on ANYONE who is evil and liberals view that as biggoted.

Further, Christianity teaches that there are clear moral boundaries set by God that we shouldnt cross and liberalism believes at its heart that morality is subjective, and anyway the elite of society choose to define it, is the right way, not God. So if a liberal wants to put a baby to death in the womb, according to them, they should have the right even though God has told us that human life is sacred and so are unborn babies.

When it comes down to it, God just gets in the way of liberalism so the best thing for them to do is try to silence and erase our representation in govt. But that isnt what America is all about is it?

Then they translate that policy to the national level, so therefore, any country that is liberal, anti-war, etc is good and the rest are evil and the true enemy of the world.

Jesus is The Sweetest Name I know.
And He's just the same,
As His Lovely Name.
That's the reason why I Love Him so,
Because Jesus is The Sweetest Name I know !

I Love Him !
I Love Him !

Because He first Loved me,
And purchased my Salvation,
on Calvary's Cross.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
There's just something about that Name !
Master, Savior, Jesus,
It's like the fragrance after the rain !
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
Let all Heaven, and earth proclaim,
King's, and Kingdoms have passed away,
But there's just something about that Name !

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

He is LORD !
He Is LORD !
He is LORD !
He has risen from the dead,
And He is LORD !
Every knee shall bow !
Every tongue shall confess !
That Jesus Christ is LORD !

Our God is an AWESOME God !
He is Good !
All the time !
All the time !
He is Good !

Be Blessed in Christ Jesus, and Highly Favored of Him !

There's no question the Left is bashing Christianity. The people denying this are being disingenuous. The attack has been going on for quite some time. Liberals went overboard with this separation of church and state. I think they are outright hostile towards Christianity. Of course they are tolerant in welcoming all other religions. "We mustn't offend them."

What a great question. I've loved reading these answers, especially Matt D.

Actually, I will address both, since you cannot separate the two...PEOPLE attack RELIGION when they are conflicted in themselves abot it, and want to challenge. Now, some dems may do it to prove a point that the 'moral majority' is not MORE moral than people who do not wear their religion as a badge. Also, to describe the conflict of some republican policy, and the teachings of the church. I have been attacked just as much for being pro choice and catholic. And it NEVER bothers me. I used to be one of them...i lost my religion for about 15 years, and then found my way back...to a decidedly different situation than the one I left 15 years earlier. Suffice it to say, it was during that time I considered myself to be a republican. Now, I consider myself to be independent and free thinking. i know I don;t have to fit into any category, so I am not insulted when people try...it just won;t work.

EDIT: I just thought of something! It wasn';t until I came on this forum that I was told I was NOT christian, but rather CATHOLIC. Nevermind that Catholics are the FIRST christians! I realized then that some christians are not christian, don;t know their history, and are blindly led by their church. And I have little respect for people who don;t THINK
