Rarely will you find personal benefactors. You are much more likely to find a business. It will probably take several businesses, but to make them want to do it, have a tax write off sheet. You'll have to talk to you school about that. Other than financial backers, you can do fundraisers which can be as simple as a car wash or you could go through a company.

Usually you go to people in the community who are patrons of the arts, but you'll have to put on a performance benefit and ask them to write out checks. Ask everyone in your theatre group who they know (grandparent, a friend who owns a car dealership, etc.)

You can also go to the local government and see whats available for funding for the arts. There may be a portion of the budget specifically for the arts that you can tap into! Good luck!

If you are based in England you could apply for funding. I don't know what its like elsewhere, but in England if you have a committee,a bank account,a constitution and the relevant health and safety docs then start searching for funding online. It will depend on who is going to benefit and what the actors/community will get out of it. You will have to prove a need. Or you could just be cheeky and ask local businesses and promise to promote them.

If you are in Australia, the state government for each state does give out grants for arts and can be found on the webpage for that particular state.
