Our federal elections are held on the Tuesday following the first Monday in November every 2 years.

The President's term is 4 years so the President's office appears on the ballot every other election. It is in the years evenly divisible by 4.

If you are from a different country, this is not an ignorant question. We cannot possibly know when other countries have elections, but here in US there will be one in November 2008.
