Sure, not a problem at all... As long as you don't forget to plug it back up of course.

It is perfectly ok to unplug your filter for a few minutes. You probably want to do this so the food doesn't get pushed off the surface and lodged in the gravel where the fish are less likely to find it or sucked up in the filter. That's a good idea. One of the worst sources of pollution in aquarium water is uneaten food. Don't worry about people who say there won't be oxygen. That's nonsense. Oxygen is dissolved in water, and when it's used up, more dissolves in from the surface. It's true that the filter agitating the surface of the water helps this exchange, but it isn't necessary. The main purpose of your filter is to help with the nitrogen cycle of your tank. That's a complex process too long to be explained here, but the answer to your question is, go ahead and shut it off.

I would assume so. I have a separate filter and air pump. As long as the pump is going and the fish are not deprived of oxygen, unplugging the filter should not be an issue.

Not a problem. Better for the food to go into the fish than the filter!

I have to ask, why do you want to unplug it? There is no reason for it being that they are used to it and this will not affect their eating.

If you think that they can stop breathing while their food is there then it is OK. I would think instead that the fish would prefer a reliable supply of oxygen into their water so thy don't suffer the stress of de-oxygenated water.
