Right 007, now pay attention. Add up the total amount your husband was paid in cash under the table and put your total on a form CEZ. Move the total from there to a SCH SE to figure out the FICA. Then move these figures to a form 1040 and do the math. With a child born in 2006 you may or may not be eligible for CTC and EIC; if you are broke you probably are. I have done taxes for 36 years for the IRS VITA program; you can contact the IRS and see if there is a VITA site in your community where somebody will assist you in filling out your tax return. If all else fails contact me and I will tell you exactly what I need to fill out a tax return for you; and if you have access to a fax machine I will fax your finished return to you so you can sign it & file it. You can also go to IRS.GOV and use the free file setup they have in place. I have never used it but I have my own computer and tax software program that I use; have completed over five hundred returns this year and have months of extensions to work on. Good luck.

A little late, are'nt we ? This should have been taken care of when your husband started working for that place. I've worked for the IRS, and I can tell you they take taxes VERY seriously ! In April they actually pay people to look at the postmarks on the envelopes to see if they're late or not ! If you don't have any money, you should'nt have had a baby. Now you're going to have to pay a late fee on top of what money you already owe. "Finacial aid"?,you may not even qualify for it. The IRS will let you make monthly payments though. It's going to be a major problem because you have to have proof of what your husband made last year. Look in the yellow pages for tax services, and talk to someone there.

You really should visit IRS.GOV and download or order a free PUB 17 and check over the flow charts to determine who can file how and do what. Divorce papers and etc don't have any sway in the determination; the IRS has set down the rules that must be followed when and if claiming children and so on; using the flow charts in the PUB 17 will tell you what you can and cannot do. Divorce decrees have too wide a variety of offerings cropping up so the IRS goes with their rules only for tax purposes.
