A parent can sign off all legal rights to a child but NOT with the sole intention of NOT paying child support...usually this is done because the child is wanting adoption from the other step-parent

Child support is the child's right...not the parents. Technically, no a parent cannot sign away that right. A parent may decide not to pursue child support though.

I'm not sure what your asking. If your the custodial parent it is your right to decide whether you will pursue child support. No one says you have to make the other parent pay. However if you aren't the custodial parent it is your responsibility to care and support your children financially. You do not have the right to say I won't pay. If your not responsible then the other parent has the right to take you to court to pursue payments. Again if you don't pay the state can garnish your wages.

I know child custody and support issues can be a hassle but really it's your child who is missing out. If a person decides to take the risk of getting someone pregnant than they should also be responsible for caring for them financially. Whatever your position is make of list of pro's and con's to decide whether you should ask for chid support. It is your child's right to have this money. If you don't want to use it put it away for things your child wants in the future. (ie. summer camp, college, etc.)

If you are talking about giving up leagl rights to your child, you can do that, but it will not affect your obligation to pay child support. Whether or not you are emotiionally and physically responsible for your child does not affect that you also have a financial responsibility.
Child support could end if the child's other parents marries and the new spouse wants to legally adopt the child.

If the custodial parent wants the non-custodial parent to relinquish their parental rights then child support would stop as well.

But, no you can not just give up your parental rights to get out of paying child support for a child you helped to create.

If a court order is established, signing away your rights to the child will not cancel the child support unless you get an extremely lenient judge.

If the custodial parent petitions or they agree on it, the non custodial parent can have their parental rights revoked or waived. This means, no contact, ever with the child. It also means no child support.

However, you can't just waive your rights to avoid child support, unless the ex- agrees.

If the mother of your child agrees and you both sign off on it, then depending on the laws in your state that's a possibility. You can't decide own your own nor can the mother. it must be a mutual agreement approved by the court.
