I was just thinking this because I missed out by 1 year to face my brother in college. Has this ever happened in the pros before? I know there have been brother/brother position player matchups but I don't know about pitcher/hitter matchups...

In case anyone is confused, my brother is a pitcher and I was an outfielder. He plays on a different team than I did but in the same conference so if I would've been a "super-senior" he could've pitched to me.

I believe Phil and Joe neikro where both in the NL at the same time...so they would have had to hit...they where both pitchers.... you think the "Rocket" might be trying to hang around to pitch to his son..actually I just read Phil gave up the only homerun his brother Joe ever hit

I'm pretty sure that Gaylord and Jim Perry pitched (and thus hit) against each other quite a few times.
Ken (P) and George Brett (3B) both played in the AL for several years.
There were two Dean brothers (Dizzy and Paul) who were both pitchers. They were on the Cardinals together for several years but in also were on different NL teams at the same time.

i'm 19 --and of my era... Chipper Jones, by ability of a few distance. He would nicely be all my numbers a million-10 =) Mark Teixeira performed with A-Rod mutually as with the Texas Rangers and made the remark the different day, (do not keep in mind word for word) that he's in no way performed with a larger hitter than Chipper Jones. And that's a shame to work out Barry Bonds' call in a number of those lists.

I would assume so. There have been over 350 sets of brothers to make it to the Majors. Ramon and Pedro Martinez faced off in a pitchers duel back in '96 when the Expos and Dodgers played. NL...they both had to hit.

Paul and Rick Reuschel were both pitchers in the NL and they did face each other. You couldn't miss them because they were both a bit chubby.

The Niekros faced each other on the mound nine times, in NL games, so they batted against each other. There's probably a few other examples in addition to the ones mentioned.

Phil and Joe Neikro would be my guess, maybe even the Perry brothers too.
