The episode was called "The Man Behind The Curtain" for a reason. Ben is the apparent leader of the group, although he claims to answer to Jacob. There is something genuinely there in the cabin they visited, but the voice Locke heard doesn't seem to be heard by Ben any more.
Best guess is that the man we know as Richard Alpert is in fact the leader, and there is certainly far more to him than meets the eye, since he apparently doesn't age (then again, does anyone on the island? We don't know). Notice how Ben seems worried whenever Locke suggests involving Richard?

Ben told Locke that Jacob is who is really in charge on the Island. No more was said about him than that. Ben seems afraid of him, he said that Jacob isn't someone you just go see, he summons you. Jacob also doesn't much like technology apparently.
Ben was the focus of the flashback. He grew up on the Island, so that's why Jacob talks to him, because he's the only one left that's been there forever. Watch the episode, abc.com, it's an interesting one.

MSNBC has an awesome couple of stories about last night's episode. There really was someone sitting in Jacob's chair. And, no Jacob is not who baby Ben talked to in the jungle. That was Richard - who surprisingly did not age at all in the whole time that Ben grew up.

Hello people, the guy Ben found in the jungle is Richard, only his hair was longer. Come on pay attention, these are important things, like how Richard hasnt aged a day since Ben (as a kid) first saw him in the jungle, Hmmm...You can watch the clip on abc.com, they been showing it over and over. That is the big talk all over the forums and blogs this morning. Some think he is Jacks dad, some think its Locke with hair (I ddont get that one). Freeze the frame like I did and copy it and now I look at it trying to figure out who it could be. I know it looks to me like he has on old raggedy pirate clothes.

Little Ben, after going through the perimeter, met up with a longer haired bearded Richard Alpert (the one who gave Locke Sawyer's files and brought Juliet to the island).
Ben shot Locke because Locke heard what Jacob said and Ben didn't.
Watch Lost on abc.com's website or download it off of iTunes, very interesting episode.
I think Jacob is either a ghost or someone on another plane of existence.

i think of you and me are on a similar internet site. haha. He flipped out because of the fact he (like Edward) knew the certainty that it became into something concept "impossible" and that Edward will harm Bella. P.S. it became into approximately intercourse if that area became into confusing for you. no longer the certainty that they've been going on a honeymoon. P.S.S. the guy above me is incorrect. Jacob asked Bella how long earlier she is replaced and she or he spoke back "couple of weeks" or somethign liek that.

i think he doesn't exist.
