It's hard to gauge whether Islamist extremism and Jihadism are more of a threat to USA than thousands of nuclear weapons pointed at us, while we in turn have thousands of nuclear weapons pointed back at the Soviet Bloc. The latter condition, by the way, still exists. It is, as the Cold War was, a new experience in human history in many ways. Both the Soviet Bloc and Islamic extremism have, as a stated goal, the destruction of the USA (and Israel). But a couple of generations of people educated to hate our guts with a religious zeal is plenty scary, maybe scarier than an atheist society taught that capitalism is wrong and Communism must spread throughout the world.

It was fear that led us into the war in Iraq, along with other things. But---it was an unnecessray fear. Saddam was surrounded on all sides, 2/3 of Iraq was a no-fly zone, and he posed little danger to us, even if he has WMD's. Saddam was trying to make us think that he had WMD's to try to scare us out of invading him. That did not work out well for him---or for us.

We haven't caught Bin Laden because (a) He is intelligent, wealthy, sincere, and his followers are devoted to him, and (b) The search for him has not been well-executed.

Yes, Bush would like to catch and/or kill Bin Laden. Bush is not evil, or stupid, or insincere. He is just majorly unsuited for the job he is in. He is aggressive, where he should be diplomatic. He values loyalty above all in his appointees, so he surrounds himself with syncophants---all dissenting voices in his Cabinet are gone, bye Colin Powell, bye bye Christie Todd Whitman. If Bush Jr was half the man his father was, he'd be twice the President.

When did the USSR attack us?
Have you ever been over to Afghanistan and seen the terrain? Do you really think that Bin Ladin is still in Afghanistan anyway? I would hardly call 9/11 a "scare tactic".
And how can someone above me claim that Fox news has made 'fat women" (another compassionate liberal speaking I'm sure) popular, and skinny women jail birds. How stupid is that and what does it have to do with anyting anyway? If you are speaking about the "skinny"ail bird I am thinking of, she did it to HERSELF. See, that's one of the really big differences between conservatives and liberals. Conservatives take responsibility for the OWN actions, and don't blame everyone else.

Bush did not make them scarier then the Soviet Union. Saddam and Osama are scary in their own right. As I recall people were pretty scared of the USSR for several decades.

USSR never attacked us. Bin Laden did and was planning 9/11 well before Bush and Cheney were even in office. As for not finding him yet, why don't you ask Pakistan why it won't let us come in there to look for him. Hussein was not so much a threat to our lives as he was a threat to our livelyhood meaning our major oil supply. Whethere you agree with the war or not, if you drive a car, you have to understand you can't have your cake and eat it too.

To the person below me, why would you say we have "documentation that he was planning the war before he was elected" and not provide a source. I read multiple sources of news every day and never heard this. Please back up your statements.

The Soviet Union never sanctioned pilots on a suicide mission to the Pentagon, or tall buildings in New York, nor did the Soviet Union ever sanction suicide bombers blow up trains in Spain, nor hijack and blow up planes from Britain to the US, nor wage direct attacks against a military base in New Jersey, etc. etc. etc.

They might have threatened us a lot with their "big stick" (nulcear missiles, etc.) but they never actually carried out the threat.

Bin Laden, on the other hand...

Hussein DID use chemical weapons -- he DID follow through, so his threat was considered more credible than anything the Soviets (never) did.

believe it or not president Bush is a very good public speaker. the ussr was more dangerous simply because the could fire all their weapons at us in a moments notice just as we could to them. it was definetly a scare tactic that if we did not go after them we could see more innocent casulties on american soil and american tourist attractions over seas. we have located him in the past but he has been very lucky at mising our missiles. rember, when looking for a person you are a step or two behind. President Bush leads us to believe that he wants him caught.

Bin Laden's crew attacked us on 9/11. See the link below for a little reminder.

Saddam threatened to attack us. We got to him first.

Of course Bush does not want Osama caught. We all know Bush was planning the Iraq war before he was even elected. We have documentation of that. Osama gave him his perfect opportunity to do so. That, and Bush and his family is in bondage to the Saudi Royal family, and Osama is a royal.

Obviously with TV.

Look at how FOX TV has made fat women popular (American Idol) and skinny women jail birds.

That proves they can manipulate America any way they want.

Go Team Bush Go
