Hi guys - My Fiancee and I will find out on May 22nd if our 2nd (and final) child is a little boy, or little girl. We've already got a beautiful 2 y/o little girl named Quinn. We are trying so hard to find names for both sexes that we like, but keep hitting dead end after dead end.
I mean we've done it all - Suggestions, Numerous Baby Books, Probably 100 Websites, etc, etc..
Both of us really hate "girly" names for little Boy's, so were looking for something strong -- But on the other end of the spectrum -- We both like boyish names for little girls. Kind of confusing, huh? :o)
So far we've thought of, and gone away from:
Girls:
Peyton
Olivia
Caroline
Boys:
Frank (my name)
Riley
Boston
So those are out and we're back to Square one.
She really wants to name a little girl "Francesca" and call her "Frankie" -- Is that cute, or would she eventually hate us for it?
Also - Any suggestions welcome, the more, the better!! We need the help!!!!!

Just so you guys know - We've pretty much abandoned any of the names I listed, even though I appreciate your opinions on them -- But what we're really looking for is new, fresh suggestions - Thanks!

I think Riley is a girlie name for a boy, I know a lot of girls named Riley. I know a girl named Frankie and a girl named Francesca. Francesca didn't like being called anything but Francesca, though her mom called her Franny.
Seems like kids will find ways to pick on each other no matter what names they have. With all the crazy names out there these days, I wouldn't worry too much about whether or not your kid will be made fun of. Just concentrate on raising your kid up to be confident on who he/she is and not to give in to badgering by other kids.
Don't worry about not finding the perfect name yet, you still have plenty of time left. Once the baby comes, you may still be questioning the name you picked, but after a couple weeks you won't be able to imagine your baby called any other name.
Congrats and good luck!
In regards to the answer above mine.. I named my baby Autumn as well, we call her tumtum for fun. :)

I have an aunt Doris whose father wanted a boy so badly that she has always gone by the name Tommy, so it's not unprecedented to call a girl by a boy's name. Francesca, to me, though, is a pretty ethnic sounding name. I would expect anyone named Francesca to be a first generation immigrant from Sicily. Hey, there's another name I love -- Cecelia.
Along those same lines, a friend of mine named her daughter Charlotte, and calls her Charlee. (I don't like the spelling, but not my kid.) Also, I read a book when I was a kid about a girl named Rowan who went by the nickname Charley. I really love the name Rowan but I bet it would be unpronouncable to most.
I'm sure the right name will come to you -- eventually. It took my parents almost a month (after I was born) to give me a name, because they had been so certain I was going to be a boy that they didn't even talk about girl names!

I am due in early august. We were having a battle over names, and could not decide. Every thing we came up with would get pushed back. We finally agreed on a boy name so we figured it was a good omen we would have a boy. When we got the ultrasound it was a girl! For some reason the name Olivia came to us within minutes of finding out and that will be her name. Plus I love Twelfth Night, so i really like the name.

I've mostly stayed in the Gaelic names that Quinn belongs to. There are some very good names of that origin :-)
I would go with a shorter name than Francesca. It just seems so big compared to the simple and straight forward name Quinn (I like Quinn).
I would possible use Frank as a middle name for a boy, I'm not big on the jr./sr. thing.
Girls:
Kellee/Kelly
Cara
Jamie
Deirdre
Fiona
Helen
Imogen
MacKenna
Tara
Boys:
Ryan
Scott
Spencer
Allister
Cayden
Callum
Neill / Neal / Neale
Happy baby naming :-)

Francesca is a gorgeous name and even frankie is a great nickname, i had a friend at school called frankie and she was the most gorgeous and most down to earth girl i knew, i reckon you have made a great choice there for a girl's name. For a boy's name have you thought of Jacob or maybe Tyson they are good strong names. Me and my husband had such a hard time choosing between them but we at least we have another 3 weeks to decide yet. Good luck anyways on picking a name its the hardest decision i have ever had to make

I like Francesca! Some boyish names, though, like you mentioned, might include Devan, Logan, Gage, Rhys or Drew. For a boy, I love Asher, Silas, Linus, and the old Biblical names. A baby name search on Bible names will give you some really interesting suggestions. (Do check the meanings, though, because sometimes they're not very positive.) My friends have a daughter named Zofia, which I really like. Strong, but still feminine.
Good luck!

My favorite boy names are Cade Ryan and Bryce Weston. These would go well with Quinn because they are also one syllable names. Hayden is cute too. For girls, I like Sierra Joan and Bailey Grace. I knew a girl named Xavia (pronounced X - ay - vee - uh). Being that your daughter Quinn has a Q which is not so common, this one can have an X which is also not common. Good Luck! P.S. Personally, I'm not fond of Francesca.

Olivia and Caroline are lovely. Frank is cool (maybe he won't like being Frank Jr. though) Don't like Riley and Boston I'm afraid. Frankie for a girl wouldn't be my choice, but that's not to say she couldn't pull it off with style ;-)
Boyish sounding girls' names:
Luka
Shawn
Sydney
Teri
Girls' names with boyish nicknames:
Alexandra - Alex
Andrea - Andi
Antonia - Toni
Charlotte - Charlie
Christine/Christina - Chris
Danielle - Danni
Erica - Ricki
Edith/Edwina - Eddi
Georgia/Georgina - George
Maxine - Max
Nicola - Nicky/Nick
Roberta - Bobbi
Veronica - Ronni
If you just want suggestions, my favourite names are Sebastian and Amelia :-)
