The US goes into Iraq, ill advisedly, and removes the only stabilizing force in the country. As could be expected mass chaos breaks out. So in the typical liberal form rather than having the US own up to their responsibility to try to correct the situation they want to just leave and let the Iraqi people suffer. The US is responsible for the situation in Iraq and have an obligation to help the Iraqi people stabilize the country and protect them as best they can.

Add: The Iraqi people did not "let" Sadamm rule them. He was a vicious dictator who ruled by force and fear.

Yes, we made a HUGE mess of things in Iraq! Part of me thinks that we should try to stick around to clean up our mess, but another part of me wonders if it's at all possible.

I have a couple of points here.
First: I am a liberal, and I agree that we have an obligation to help the Iraqis fix what we broke. However, Bush declared victory three years ago, yet we still seem to be fighting a war. We're not fixing anything. At best, things are the same as they've been for several years. At worst, we're fostering America-directed hatred. It is time NOT to pull out immediately, but to give the Iraqis a deadline by which certain accomplishments must be made, or they will lose our support. There is NOTHING wrong with doing this.
Second: The people of Iraq clearly are not equipped to protect a democracy. They've had three years to start to take control of their own national security (I'm being generous; I don't see why they weren't side-by-side with us, protecting themselves, three months after we invaded), and they're NOT DOING IT. The United States is not an international babysitter, and I'm tired of the Iraqis taking my money and not producing results.
Third: Stop generalizing about liberals. We're not the Borg.

And when do you think enough is enough exactly? You don't think the Iraqi people are suffering now? The conflict we are mired in now has nothing to do with terroism or WMD. It's become a civil war between the different religious factions and no amount of policing, bombing and killing from us will make it any better or make them play nice with each other. The Iraqi government needs to step up to to plate and do what they need to do instead of taking a two month vacation in the middle of this mess.

Haven't we been here a thousand times before?? it's time to move on, and it's definitely time for the Iraqi's to step up to the plate, how dare you say that the US will leave a big mess for the Iraqi's to clean up, it's the Iraqi's themselves and the foreign fighter's who are causing the BIG MESS, by blowing everything in their path's up, don't you dare come on here and lay any blame on anyone, where are you?? sitting at your keyboard $hitstirring just for the hell of it. If you don't have anything nice to say then don't open your mouth and let your belly rumble.

Like Bush owned up to lying about WMD, Nukes, and a 9/11 connection to get us there in the first place? Like Cheney Owned up to the illegal no-bid contracts to Halliburton? Like Gonzales owned up to politicizing the office of the US attorney? You are a moron!
By the way skippy, its up to the IRAQI people to fight for democracy if they want it!

I am a liberal and have been on my own since the age of 17 when my mother died. I put myself through college and have a job working with disabled people, helping them live better lives. Take your no personal responsibility rhetoric and shove it up your azz.

Let me put it this way if you owned a business and hired someone to run it for you and for five years you've haven't made a profit and money is missing and its effecting all your other business ventures. Would you fire your employee or just stay the course. Only an idiot would stay the course.
