My working theory is that some (and let the emphasis be on the word SOME) conservatives have absolutely no love of freedom in a meaningful sense.
These few people believe that the American public needs reactionary leadership. Some even believe they are forward thinkers when, in fact, they are looking for some mythical and non-achievable republican utopia.
What a delusional concept! They believe that people cannot make their own decisions on important issues. Worst of all, they refuse to listen to solid and logical points of view.
That is not the United States that I was born in.
If you claim moral leadership, be ready to prove it every second. If you are wrong, step out of the way. If you won't step down, don't be shocked when you are escorted out of office.

Conservatives hate freedom?? thats a new one... meanwhile the democrats are trying to take away our individual liberties left and right. Religion or not, Homosexuality is still viewed as a mental perversion by far more people than those that do not. 20 years ago, gays were ridiculed for coming out of the closet. 10 years ago it started to catch on with the MTV crowd and became cool, now today guys can marry guys in many states! All this within 20 years!... So give it a little more time and I am sure peoples view points will lighten up even more and homosexuals will have everything they want. Personally, I am one of those that view poorly of homosexuality and I honestly think it damages our morals and family values as a community is concerned. It has nothing to do with my Religion, and just like you, I have every right to feel the way I do about that. So you may say I am pushing my Christian morality upon you, were at the same time I can say your pushing your heathen unmoral views upon me. Something to think about...

Yeah OK, so you are saying that capitalism is oppression and liberalism (read Marxism) is the freedom from capitalism so therefore, liberalism is freedom.
How come I can't ride a bike without a helmet? Or drive without a seat belt, or smoke in a bar? Why can't I get good french fries in NY because of the ban on trans fatty acid? Why will i have to buy your stupid light bulbs that don't put out enough light?
Why can I buy property but can't build on it because of some wood pecker? Why can't kids go to a school near their homes instead of being bused 18 miles? Why are democrat governors collectively banning school vouchers?
I guess you'll tell me me to be patient! I only need 5 or 6 more chains and I'll be totally free.

I'm a liberal and I know Conservative love freedom and their country. I am getting tired of painting people unfairly on this website. I would like to move debates back to the issues and hopefully through some discussions, we come up with real solutions. A good political punch in the eye is fun though but you know what I'm trying to say.

WE DO? Again, I must have missed that memo. Conservatives realize the "freedom" comes at a price that liberals are never willing to pay. Libs just want it handed to them because they feel entitlement. By the way... economy at a peak during the Clinton adms.? By what barometer? Higher unemployment, higher dropout rate, beginning of the gas surge in price, unbelievalble tax raises... nice point.

Conservatives do not hate freedom...we simply believe that freedom is not a right but is a responsibility to take responsibility for ones own actions, to be considerate of those who may not think like you, and to be self sufficient and not beggars who invite the government into their homes through welfare plans...Conservatives fight for the freedoms of every American...we just believe you must be mature to use freedom wisely.
Liberals treat freedom like a toy...they play with it, mistreat it ,twist it, bend it, and stretch it ...then eventually break it...then what do we have?

Conservatives are FREEDOM LOVERS, unlike Libs that tax me to death and erode my rights. Clinton was riding on Regans prosperity, nothing he was responsible for. As for wire tapping, Clinton also did nothing for security, which is why we are in the mess we are now.
Do you have something to hide??? Afraid of Big Brother finding out something? I don't Tap On !!!!!

Where were you towards the end of the Clinton presidency?
The economy stank and unemployment was high. It's so funny how you make yourself believe the fantasy of the Clinton era.

Good question. They hate Gay Marriage, hate separation of Church and State, and hate Abortion. They also adore the "Freedom" of NAFTA. My dad once went to a Bush speech in a Bush mask, and people asked him questions, and all he did was say, "Freedom...9/11...Freedom...9/11..."
