I only started shaping mine in the last year.
Get a professional to wax them for you the first time as it will be a lot less painful than a lot of plucking. Empathise that you haven't shaped them before and give them a good idea of how you would like it to look.
Once they are shaped to how you like them you will only have to maintain them by plucking every few days depending what your re-growth is like.
If you are a total wuss like me, try rubbing a small amount of bonjela (the mouth ulcer stuff) on your brow first as it will numb it a bit before plucking.

I do mind, but I don't pluck them very thin just pluck the hairy bits and still have them look natural. There is some way your meant to do it I do it that way but it's hard to describe. I don't pluck any hairs at the beginning of the brow near the nose I pluck a few at the bridge thingy and I only ever pluck under the brow never on top. There are other tips hard to describe with out a diagram.

i have seen eye brow shaping kits being sold on the ideal world shopping channel on tv (sky/freeview) and they look really good.
the kit includes different plastic transparent 'template' shapes to suit your face.
you position and hold the chosen template over your own eyebrow and then you shade in the area using the shading tool supplied.
when both brows are finished you check in a mirror to see if the shape youre choosing suits you before you actually start plucking.
if youre happy with what you see, you then pluck the hairs that are outside the line of the shaded new eye brow shape.
after you have finished tweezing and shaping you just wash away the coloured area to reveal lovely neat looking eye brows.
they made it look easy enough to do, (but dont they always?! lol) and youre guaranteed a pair of even matching brows as youre using the same template for both eyes..
im not sure if you can buy these kits in the shops or not, but i bet you can, and i think the kit includes a few different eyebrow shape templates, from thin, medium to thicker, arched etc, a pair of tweezers and a colouring pencil/powder.
i hope this might have helped.
if you dont have the confidence to pluck and shape your own, maybe do as the others have suggested and visit a beauty salon for the first time, and then after that you can hopefully keep them tidy yourself.
take care and good luck.

Have the salon do them first, will only cost ya about $7. Don't be afraid to tell them that you want a natural, full, eyebrow. Let them know that you dont want super thin, or "scared" looking ones...just cleaned up and nice looking. When you do this it doesnt hurt too awful much.
As they grow in pluck 'em. You will see them and I suggest doing this after a hot shower. Seems less painful and the hair tends to come out easier!
Amazing what a diffrence nice eyebrows can make, wish I started in high school...=)

I get mine Threaded at a salon, It is done using a length of twisted cotton to catch and pull out the hairs and the results last a lot longer than waxing, in between I pluck the stray hairs but make sure you invest in some good tweezers (La Tweeze, Illuminated Tweezers rock!) and also some bonjela to numb the area first!!! Also best to do after a hot bath or shower.
Good luck

Ive done mine for years... the first couple of times you will be like... ouch with the eyes watering! but then you get used to it, like waxing really.
i don't have the shocked look because i only pluck 3-4 hairs then take a look to make sure i aint done to much and now i no the shape to do its fine... but if youve never done it before use a white eyeline pencil and mark out places of where to stop and stuff to avoid shock eyebrows....
a few little tips!!
never pluck above the eyebrow!!
when marking where on your face... use the pencil and line it up along your nose and so it goes across the inner of you eye... and never pluck past that otherwise they will be too far apart!
have a look at certain shapes of famous people to see which would be best for you
use a good pair of tweezers and one of them magnifying (?) i dunno if thats the right word but magnifying mirrors
good luck

The best way to do it is take a pail reliever 30 minutes before you do so, to dull the pain a bit (although plucking, to me, is a lot better than getting them waxed). Then pluck hairs around your brow three at a time, looking in the mirror to make sure you don't over pluck. Just follow the shape of your brow, where it is thickest, don't go too far in to it, or you'll end up looking shocked!

I started plucking mine at about 19 years old, but they were already naturally shaped(ish) so I just had to tidy them up. If yours aren't a basic shape that you're confident with doing yourself, get a salon to do it. I'd recommend waxing though for the first time 'cos it hurts the first few times you pluck the hairs before you get used to it, but it WRECKS if someone else does it! (For some bizarre reason!)

You can get it done professional first. So they can start it for you. When it grows out you know where to start. They either wax or thread it. If you want to do it your self you can start in the middle and then just take a Little off each side making a nice shape. Don't get plucking happy. :) Good luck They have to be even with each other. I get my wax. I think plucking hurts. They pluck a little when they wax them.

It doesn't hurt one bit unless your a huge sissy! Just go for it.
start be plucking all the stray hairs away. Brush the hairs upwards and you'll see all the ones that aren't in line.
Get a pencil or something and put it in line with the side of your nose. This is where your eyebrow should start, so pluck any before there. (Its kind of hard to explain so i hope you understand)
if you lie the pencil at the outside corner of your eye and the edge of the bottom of your nose. This is where your eyebrow should end.
remember not to get carried away. It will be easier if you put your face over steam first to open your pores. And get a good pair of tweezers or it can be frustrating.
