One of the kindest Conservatives has quit Y/A because he couldn't see any rhyme or reason to being called names and being given hateful answers to innocent questions . His name is Buzz , and he just lost his 45 year old brother the other day .
I've tried to show everyone, the damage that can be done with name-calling and insults, but apparently several just don't receive the message . You guys can bash me all you want. . . AFTER you answer the damm question, but he's witnessed and we've all witnessed the name-callers and professional insulters DO NOT EVER answer the damm question . Those are the people making this site less than what it could be . And those are the people fully responsible for driving other good people away from here . Amongst other things, I think one of the straws that broke the camel's back was when he tried to get people to stop calling each other names and he got responses that said it was 'fun' .

BTW, note that I asked 'Liberal name-callers' , not all liberals

LOOK at this. . . even when prompted to answer the damm question, many of you chose not to .

What kind of parents did some of you have ? You won't stop name-calling unless the other side does so too ? That, my little, little friends is called CHILDHOOD . NEWSFLASH. . . ADULTHOOD is achieved by being your own person, with morals and PERSONAL INTEGRITY .

Heidi and Shaz - If you want to ask the same question directed at Conservative name-callers, the go ahead . There's nothing that says I must address both sides of an issue, especially when I'm particularly addressing one specific issue and one specific user . The very notion that you and others 'think' that I must address both sides is JUVENILE .

Kudos to the couple of liberals who 'got it' . And to the rest, SHAME ON ALL OF YOU . Your answers are the equivalent of little children crying. . . 'well they do it too' . Your parents obviously never taught you that if others jump off a bridge, then that doesn't mean that you should too !!
There are rehab centers for everything these days.. . alcohol, drugs, racism, etc. . . perhaps there needs to be a new kind. . . HUMAN REHAB. . . cause many of you don't deserve the same respect as others and show no signs of being HUMANE WHATSOEVER !!

Liberals try to silence the good guys by any means possible. The only thing they have in their corner is name-calling. God forbid they actually try to debate an issue.

I have been called a bad mother for my political views. I have been told my children needed to be taken away from me. I have people telling me that my husband (Army) is a murderer. When people attack my family I get pissed. Attack me all you want but why attack children? Is that the best they've got?

Yesterday I asked a question about terrorism. "Would you rather fight terrorism or would you rather be a victim of terrorism." Some pathetic sap answered. "Are you done beating your kids yet?" Pretty sad.

I am going to email buzzard right now. He is one of the kindest people on here with the biggest hearts.

I know you asked for "liberal name-callers" and not "all liberals." I am a liberal and do not make a habit of name-calling, although I probably have at some point gotten mad enough to do so. But I think I should speak to this and to echo the sentiments of some of my fellow liberal posters.

First, I am sorry to hear that Buzz lost his brother. The death of a family member is a very difficult thing to deal with.

Second, I am sorry to hear that he decided to stop posting on Yahoo Answers because of name-calling. I agree with you that people who do nothing but insult and personally attack other users, and political/ethinc/religious groups as a whole, are highly annoying to those of us who wish to have sincere and honest political discussions. It is disheartening that some very vocal people think that the way to debate issues is to call the other side childish names.

However, it is disingenuous to lay all the blame at the feet of liberals. Yes, there are liberals on here who don't address issues and only bash people. However, there are also conservatives who do this also. We liberals feel the same way that you conservatives do when we are called names (the current favorite seems to be "bed-wetting lieberal moonbats," for some reason). We want it to stop.

There are both liberal and conservative posters on here who will give you a straight answer and not bash or name-call. I appreciate these posters greatly.

To answer the question, no, I do not think it is a victory that one voice was silenced by name-calling.

We all need to grow up. Liberals and conservatives alike.

First, it's always a poor argument to point to the bad behavior of others as an excuse for bad behavior. You're right, it's juvenile. But I do have to echo one of their thoughts. As irritating as it is, either take the insults, even in times of seriousness, or don't participate. I do wish that we could form an autonomous offshoot. The contacts I have chosen are from various ideologies. They were chosen because they showed an ability to state their opinion rationally (although some later mess that up, see Chi Guy) Anyway, it would be nice to have a community with whom I could share political news and rational thought. That's why I come - maybe an occasional smile b/c someone was truly funny. Sometimes, I stay away because I just am not in the mood for the thoughtlessness, so maybe that's what Buzz needs right now. Sorry to hear about his brother.

It's true...and the more "liberal" the more nasty (i.e. Huffington Post, Daily Cos, Michael Moore, etc.) They are anything but tolerant of anyone who holds a view that is different than theirs. I have been grieved at some of the absolutely nasty comments by those on this board who back liberal candidates. The ugly, nasty comments about John McCain (especially his age) not only exhibit a staggering amount of "ageism" (just as ugly as racism and sexism), but seem to point to a movement that is robbing society of everything decent and civil. I'll admit that a few McCain supporters have made ugly or racist comments about the Dem. candidates (and I've reported the ones I've seen), but the vast majority are from the "liberals" (I'm going to even go ahead and say it...mainly the Obama supporters...but I HOPE it is just because so many of them are young kids just trollin' on the net). It's truly sad though! p.s. I DO NOT like Limbaugh or Coulter either...they can act ugly and say ugly things as well...the fringe on both sides are often hateful people.

Wow very nicely put, I do see a problem here one which a consevative might not see. The "liberal name-callers!! That addresses one group. However there are name callers in both sides not just the liberal side. Because I don't agree with everything one side says I have gotten hatemail and name calling from both sides. NOT JUST THE LIBERAL SIDE.
It's sad when a person has to leave YA who might be able to point out certain matters which would make a person think further on an issue.

I don't know what liberal name callers consider this to be. Buzz made his own decision.

As for name calling, there is plenty of that on both sides. Consider the eternal "mefeelsgreat(insert number her, I think he's up to 47 or 48) who uses "Lieberals" in every post. Or the folks who use terms like liberal bedwetters, Weak Sisters, etc. They certainly aren't liberals.

Depending upon the issue, I might fall on either side of the fence. But I agree that this childish behavior doesn't forward the cause of the people who engage in it.

There will always be trolls, that's not gonna change. But here's a suggestion for everybody.

Simply don't respond. I know that's probably not gonna happen, but if questions get no response, they are removed. Once the trolls realize that, maybe they'll stop doing it. But I won't hold my breath.

Your letter should give everyone of us call to hold our head in shame for any past namecalling. We all need to start acting like the 'adults' we are. ALL OF US.
I am sorry to hear of Buzz's loss. That is a hard road to travel, losing a beloved sibling. I have been there.
And now to answer the question. It is never a victory if someone 'wins' at someone elses expense. Apologies are definitely due. Let's see if there are any out there willing to own up to their hurtful ways. This is definitely ROAD RAGE on the internet.

Looking at these answers give VERY little hope for improvement. People use this site for anonymous bashing. I'm sure that very few would have the guts to say to a person's face what they say here. Some of them undoubtedly consider this a victory. Pathetic.

They might, they might not. If there is no one posting questions worth answering, the namecallers have nothing to do. You shouldn't single out the liberals at all on this one--the cons have just as many (seems like more to me) people with no opinion other than anything a liberal says is wrong.

I don't remember your friend Buzz, but it stinks that he let the turkeys get him down. You have to learn to ignore the idiots--they are always going to be there, and they are usualy the loudest. We do need for everyone to express real points and views, and quit cheering for their favorite team.

What you must understand is that this is a completely anonymous space, where people let go and just say what's on their mind. Granted, a lot of those people have garbage on their minds. But it's like being in your car. When you're driving in your car you feel free to curse at others, give hand gestures and do a lot of other things that you would not ordinarily do if you were face to face with someone. If people resort to name calling and vulgar language, just remember that most of them are uneducated simpletons who cannot argue a point in a civilized manner if their lives depended on it.

I don't know as I am not one of them.

I notice your argument indicates it is ok that there are a huge number of conservatives who unleash insults many times more vile than any liberal insult I have seen. You call people childish that they won't stop because the conservative name-callers won't...why are they exempt from the rules of conduct?

I agree with the idea that we should not be attacking others but if you are trying to maintain a reasonable question then you have to accuse the right as well as left since they are just as guilty...to leave them out is hypocriteical and invalidates your point

Add> No it is not juvenile..it is JUST..it is FAIR..it is RIGHT..and your little tirade proves you know nothing of these concepts. By saying a balanced stance is juvenile you prove it is you that lack maturity.
You are correct you do not have to address the opposite side, but by not doing it you erase any value your question might have had and it makes you look like a hypocrit. I don't know if you are but your words here make that the best assumption.
