why would any government want to bring down the prices of gas?
They stand to gain millions upon millions with every increase at the pumps.. And don't forget that these people probably have shares in this big oil companies, which again is money in their pockets..
They don't care about you..Think care about increasing the digits in their bank accounts..
I could go on about this, but with most of you being children.. I honestly think that I'd be wasting my time in explaining politics and economics...

I've been looking into this a lot lately. And so you know, I hate Bush with a passion.
Oil is so high right now for a few different reasons:
1.) There's a war.
2.) N. Korea and Iran are developing nuclear capabilities, and that causes tension which drives up the global price of oil.
3.) We haven't built a single refinery in the last 30 years on US soil. This is because of environmental laws. We get plenty of oil from OPEC, but we cannot process it fast enough to keep up with demand. Also, there are a few refineries that are still not working to capacity because of things like Katrina.
4.) The global demand for oil increases every single day.
Honestly, I always just blamed Bush. And to a degree it's his fault because of the war and the lack of diplomacy with N. Korea and Iran.
But there are also factors that he has no control over like global demand and a lack of refineries and damage to old refineries from natual disasters.

By the time special commission will be created and spend time investigating this issue, we will pay more and more, including pay of this "special" commission. They will end up will Congressional hearings where everything will be staged and setup. Corporations will go free, and why shouldn't they? What standards and regulations do we have in place to prevent price speculations and false inflated oil deficit? I am not aware of any. As along as someone is willing to pay the price, nothing will change. And we don't have much choice at this time, do we?

Oil companies have been investigated time and time again, and they have yet to be found to be profiteering.
Think about it they buy crude at OPEC set prices, refine it transport it and have a 6% profit margin. They pay more in taxes than they make as a profit from selling their product. If you want to find the real corruption it's the way our tax system is set up to profiteer off the sale of gas.

Compare the price of crude to the price at the pump.
Factor in the need to reconfigure U.S. refinerys to produce a wide variety of summer blend gasolines.
Now, reconsider your question. What, exactly, is there to investigate?
That oil companies make less money per gallon of gasoline than your state and federal government, despite the fact that it is the oil companies who buy, ship, process, and sell that gasoline?

The oil companies have been the target of numerous investigations over the years mostly led by democrats that hate them, and it has turned up nothing. NADA! If it did, we would be hearing nothing but oil scandals and we would constantly see oil executives dragged in front of congressional committees and charged with crimes.
I agree we need to hold businesses accountable for their practices, but not to mindlessly demonize them.

The republicans did investigate.....
They asked the oil companies if they where gouging.
The oil companies said, of course not.
End of the investigation.

Do you think he'll investigate his self? Do you think he cares for us when he's, and his family, all related to the petroleum business? He won't miss the opportunity to get richer. Why do you think is the real reason for the war in the Middle East? Because he loves humanity, because he love the USA, Do you think so? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!! He loves the money petroleum is putting into his pockets.

He tried to get the libs not to vote for useless fuel additives which add about 20 cents to the gallon. He tried to get the libs to consider drilling closer to home. What else do you want?

Well considering 2/3 of the government is controlled by Dems now. Why don't you ask them? They are probably too busy spending 6 months to pass 1 bill though.
