Omar Khayyam wrote in the 1100's AD. He wrote about relationships between individuals and God. He is probably the most famous Islamic poet.

He wrote lots of erotic poetry, but when it was translated, they made it into hetero poetry cuz it was actually about young boys. But it was the Islamic tradition to bring beautiful young boys along on caravans at the time, so he wasn't a controversial poet of his time.
