The Native Americans(correct term) didn't get over it your people just annihilated most of them.
If you want me to get over my ancestors independence from the slavery, you should get over your silly independence from the British of "YOUR" ancestors, that was years ago.
BTW 1970's was when blacks really started to prosper that isn't very long, 37 years ago.

No I don't celebrate Halloween, and I don't classify myself as Christian, but I do believe in God, and Jesus, I admit I'm not perfect ALL THE TIME. Besides I'd say 80% of blacks in USA were have ancestors who were slaves, almost every black person with a last name that originated from some European country most likely have slavery in their background, because blacks originated from AFRICA.
Plus I'm from the south and knew lots of blacks and only knew like 1 African person, up north I see more African people. Majority of blacks in USA live in the South.

I JUST ASKED A SIMPLE QUESTION ABOUT A HOLIDAY. WHY DO SOME RACIST PEOPLE FEEL SO GUILTY? I SAID NOTHING BAD ABOUT ANY RACE.

Same here. My family doesn't do anything for the 4th. We weren't freed then.
If I was alive on the 4th of July 1776, I would have run away with the British.

Well then maybe you should get a petition going to have June 19th turned into a national holiday. Just remember not all "African Americans" have ancestors who were slaves. Disagree all you like but it's true. So basically you look down on the ones who celebrate the fourth of July? Let me ask you this. Are you a Christian if so then do you celebrate Halloween and if so isn't that just like this situation? I'm not the religius type but all people are hypocritcal in their beliefs. Your not perfect so don't try to portray like you are some pillar for Afriacn American community trying raise theie level of awareness. Be real about your reason for asking this question. You just wanted something to complain about.

I see where you are coming from with this. We were freed on the 4th of July, but the news didn't reach the south until years later in June between the 14-19. That is why that call it Juneenth. I celebrate both days.

Probably the same reason some Mexicans celebrate St. Patrick's Day and some natural born Americans celebrate Cinco de Mayo--another excuse to party/cookout/have a good time.

I can understand where you're coming from, but I still celebrate July 4th. What's wrong with celebrating both? We're still American, just as American as anybody else.

You were a slave? You must be really old.
Blacks really should just get over slavery. I mean, c'mon, guys (or is that homies?). Y'all were enslaved several hundred years, taken from your people in Africa, stripped of your cultural and religious identities and given new ones (like "boy" or "mami"), given new families here, taken from those families, treated as animals to be bred and sold off or, as some farmers do.
But, DAMN, y'all gots yer freedoms & civil rights since the '60s. Why. can't. y'all. just. get. over. it?
It's 2007 and who cares if its been 37 years do you want us to bow down and say we are sorry. I didnt own slaves and owe you nothing stop the whinning and prosper in your life.

You have a point but then again aren't we all together so that should mean we belong together. I know that back then it was hard but now we are united. But no one is stopping you from celebrating it on that day.
