To find out what you need to type for any program that you want to run from the command line. if you already have an icon right click on the icon and select properties left click the shortcut tab. In the target box is the full path and command that you can use in the command console.

calc opens because the file name is calc.exe
similarly winword and excel.

This is applicable for all .exe files and certainly MS power point is also an exe file.

if you use any shortcut to MS power point.
just right click on it. then select properties. there select "find target"

there you can find the exe file reponsible for ms power point.

eg.powpoint.exe (just for understanding)
You can type this name in "run" to open power point.

Try using POWERPNT.EXE. As long as the path to the software is in your PATH system variable, it should launch just by providing the command. If not, you may need to supply the entire path.

For my system (XP Pro) with Office 2003, the default location is:

C:\program files\microsoft office\office11\powerpnt.exe
