I thought I heard putting Marigolds around your patio will keep bees away. Some people say they've heard it keeps critters away, but bees were so bad last year I couldn't sit outside most days.

Sorry that your dog is allergic but there really isn't a way to keep bees away. Also, please don't do anything to harm the bees- there is a serious problem w/ bees just disappearing from their hives. If this continues to happen, there will be a serious famine in the world! I am not a tree hugger- I am just really concerned about bees. This situation was serious enough to get put on 60 Minutes a few weeks ago.

No Marigolds do not keep bees away. They do keep mosquitoes away though. So I plant them here and there throughout the garden so we don't get eaten alive.
