Phantom Ranch is a comfortable oasis nestled at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. It is tucked in beside Bright Angel Creek on the north side of the Colorado River and is the only lodging facility below the Canyon rim. But realize The Ranch can only be reached by mule, by foot, or by rafting the Colorado River and is a popular stop-over point for hikers and mule riders traveling to the bottom of the Canyon via the famous Bright Angel or Kaibab trails. Open year-round.

If you're hiking to the bottom, stay at Phantom Ranch. They have great food too!
If you just want to stay in the park, the El Tovar hotel is the most expensive... it's a beautiful old lodge right on the rim.
I've also stayed at the Bright Angel cabins, and got a room right on the rim with a great view, and at the Yavapai Lodge, which is about a 1/2 mile from the rim. All the in park lodging is really nice.

I stayed at a place at the bottom of the canyon called the Phantom Ranch. Kind of a bunkhouse set up. Basic but totally adequate.
