Would things have been different if Abraham Lincoln was not assassinated at the time he did?

Of course, haven't you heard of the "Butterfly Effect"? Lincoln was a LOT bigger than a butterfly.

Yes, I think they would have been a lot different . Like as JFK was assassinated, his programs were passing quickly in lieu of his memory a lot of Lincoln's hopes were passed except for one big piece, that is Reconstruction. If Lincoln had not been assassinated, I believe Reconstruction would have taken a generally speaking milder pattern than what the Radical Republicans in Congress desired. I believe it would have had some of its less than encouraging resuls for even Lincoln could not change the minds of men who were insistent on racism and other forms of discrimination and the wheeling and dealing of carpetbaggers because there are always somewhere when someone will feed on the leftover carcasses of a defeated people to see if they can get what they want from them as well.But overall, it is a possibility that his reputation as a martyr or a bigger than life legend would have been less significant or even tarnished if his second term could not match up with the first term. It would have been difficult to match so who knows if he would have been no more than his predecessors and was an average president. But we will never know for he belongs to the ages.

Probably very different, especially for the Confederate states. The reconstruction, which all but destroyed what was left of the ex-Confederate states, was as much about revenge for the assassination then anything else.

Lincoln seemed to not intend any revenge, those that succeeded him did

Yes of course things would be different..they would be different if JFK had not been assasinated...or if Nixon had never been elected or if George W had not been elected...but they happened, it is history and life goes on. We cannot waste our time thinking "if only this or that had not happened" they did happen, end of story.
