Start with obvious stuff: how is you diet and how much sleep are you getting. If your getting enough B and C vitamins plus amount of sleep you were getting before very down feeling, then try to identify psychological reasons by making Dear Me list-on Divide lined sheet of paper into three section and in (on left side) section list what you would like to be doing at current time. Try to brain storm and just write all that comes to mind. On right side list what your currently doing, again do this by bran storming or listing first things that come to mind . In middle section see if you can come up with any steps to help yourself get from where you are to where you would like to be. List all that pop into mind first think about it and list what comes to mind. When done on back of paper make list of middle section easiest to hardest. Start working on that list one at a time. Brake complex tasks into parts and start with easiest. If self-help does not work seek mecial help, and if self destuctive thoughts start seek help immediately.

It is not easy to overcome depression.
You should pay attention to your sleep cycle. If you go to be at the same time each day and get up at the same time each day (sleep hygiene), you optimize your body's natural brain chemistry cycles. The locus cereuleus in your brain controls both circadian and ultradian rhythms.
Therapy and medication help. If you do get medication from a physician, make sure you give that physician "feedback". Most times there is a trial-and-error period during which the physician prescribes a medication and the patient says, "That medication helped...but..." OR "That medication did not help."

You don't just "get over" depression. You have to go to a therapist and all that jazz. It really is a pain in the abdomen, but after it's all said and done, you will be glad you did it. Medication may be required, too. Don't give up! Good luck!

Talk to a psychologist. He may be able to find out why you feel depressed. He may direct you to a psychiatrist. There are many medications on the market that effectively treat depression. If you don't do anything, it may get worse.

Try doing something entirely different than you have ever done in your life every day.
Like - Monday go fishing!
Tuesday go hiking!
Wednesday go shopping for something you always wanted! You don't have to actually buy it - you can just go shopping for it!
Thursday take in a ball game (even if you do not like it!)
ETC. ETC. ETC.
And then - before you know it you will wake up one day and you will not be depressed!
Worked for me!

If you really have depression (and you should go to a therapist) to see if you do---you might need an antidepressant. THey really and truly help some people.
