not all stalkers might be aware that they are following someone, and if they aren't aware, it would result as an obsession or a mental health problem.
but I think that one cannot generalise, and some stalkers are aware of what they are doing. maybe they don't want to stop doing it, and they don't have the power to do so

I had a little bit of trouble with a guy back in Taz. he was only a young, immature guy and he thought that - after rejecting him 999 times - I might just say "OK" on the 1000th time. even when I was going out with other guys.
He thought he was doing nothing wrong, just being persistant.
I have moved 12,000 miles away - he doesn't have my address here :-)

They have all kinds of ways to justify their behaviour...they feel they are "right" to do what they do and that the person being stalked is "wrong" not to respond as they want them to. That is why so many stalking episodes end violently.

From my professional contact with them I think they engage in a bit of cognitive dissonance. I think they try to be in another place between total minimisation of their actions and actually blaming their victims. One said it was the girl's fault for giving him the "come on" then going cold on him. It concerned me that this bloke had no concept of the right of a person to change their mind. So yes they are aware but I think it is primarily on their own needs. I also suspect they like to be feared. Dunno, hope this helps.

That depends on many factors, psychosis, metal disorders, biological disorders, damage to the right side of the brain can cause problems with conceptions of good and bad ? so the answer is yes and no.

song you down and ask you questions approximately your individual life and then locate you and do undesirable issues with you like ive heard approximately stalkers speaking to ladies on line and pretending they are warm boyfriends and inquiring for the girls handle then coming over and killing them

It's not about right or wrong. It's about fulfilling a need without regard for anyone or anything.

they don't see the errors of their ways. But even if you explained it to them they still would not see the errors of their ways. They need intervention, and even that "may" not help. In life "need" is strong for them, and when they see a need they go after it.

Are rapists aware that they are raping someone? Are murderers aware that they are murdering someone if not pre-meditated? Whether they are aware or not, it doesn't change the fact that what they are doing is wrong.
