Check your birth record. Some states only give an abbreviated form when there is a second form with more details. Have you talked to your mom and told her this is important to you? You have a right to know.

you're going to need to find out his surname, nothing can be found with just the first name i'm afraid - does no-one know his surname? friends / family etc...
or were your parents married? that will give you a surname, and perhaps a change to track down marriage records, which can help...

Look on your birth certificate, for starters. Commonsense also suggests that you ask your mother.
