My path is about respect to others, the Earth and all its creatures. I have no control over the wars and bickerings that cause innocents to die on a daily basis but I can send out loving energy to those who are suffering and food and clothing to those within my reach. I can care for the land and creatures around me. When religion finally disappears then there will be peace on Earth.

There are many good Hindu charities. And the temples always reach out to the communities to offer free nutritional food to the people. My temple has raised a lot of money for Katrina victims, Tsunami victims, and other good causes. As far as preventing war and corruption, my religion teaches against them. Sometimes, war is unpreventable, and there is theoretically a just cause for some wars, but usually, it is not just, and we have models like Gandhi who teach peaceful means of countering injustice.

Much. There are orders of nuns and brothers who take care of the poor and the sick. Catholic dioceses and charities run shelters for the homless. The pope very often speak out against war and violence and corruption on the international arena.

Most Christian churches have done a great deal towards world poverty and it is not fair to expect them to eradicate this alone, world governments need to do a lot more than they do at present.
Remember that for 2,000yrs the church has been the champion of the poor while the rich became richer, there is a long documented history of church aid and there are too many Christian aid agencies to mention here.
