The national parliament sat at Melbourne from 9 May 1901 till either 1923 or 1926, don't quite remember, when the Capital was transferred to the purpose-built Canberra. So Melbourne was the first national capital.

Canberra has always been the capital of Australia since Federation in 1901. Unfortunately, Parliament House hadn't been built in 1901 so the Federal Parliament sat in Melbourne until they had a home in Canberra. Melbourne was never the national capital even though Parliament sat there.

Melbourne was the first capital, but since Australia became a nation at Federation (1901) IMHO Canberra would be the first (and only) national capital.

It was Canberra. All the other states were colonies up until 1901 and they each had there own separate capitals.

That's been going on for years, yes? I don't know what to think, I don't live there. I understood when rabbits were (illegally) introduced, because they were not native to the ecosystem. But kangaroos certainly are. So I'm confused as to why the kangaroo population surges so much that they need to be culled.
