Of course it is because of PRIDE. They know they are small and weak but they are too proud to admit it.

I'm not pretending either, I don't believe in god, everyone is entitled to their opinion, the bible tends to contradict itself all the way, 'though shalt not kill' but hey 'a life for a life' and there are countless others, the bible is like Chinese whispers passed down the countless generations, the story's got bigger and bigger! What about this poor little girl that has been kidnapped, religious folk say that this is not gods fault, of course it isn't as he doesn't exist! man makes his own choices, we aren't governed by god or satan. Where was your so-called god when that guy was shooting all those people in that uni campus a while ago why didn't he step in? because he doesn't exist! where is he when a pedophile messes with a tiny child??? he does not exist! I could go on but I won't.

bosh you beat me to it.

Mr. Bee, It's dizzying logic like yours that began/prolonged the Vietnam war, caused the Bay of Pigs fiasco, etc.

"why do people pretend they dont believe in god think they can do what they want, say what they want in this life."

Everyone can think what they want, certainly. That's why we call it "thinking." Freedom of speech also gives us the ability to say what we want to say. I don't mean government-sanctioned free speech, I mean the physical ability to form words around our ideas. Gov't can't truly give or take away free speech (but that's for another time.)

"why do people want to go to hell???"

Atheists and other non-theists don't "want" to go to hell, they don't believe in it. That's like saying to someone who doesn't believe in Santa Clause "You don't want to get presents because you don't believe in Santa." Everybody wants presents! It just that at a certain age you stop believing the story.

"there will be a judgement seat.people do know, what will happen, they know the truth."

What is truth? Did you miss that day in class where they taught you fact vs opinion? What about the scientific method? If you hold the truth in your hands, kindly show some empirical data to prove it. And no, the Bible doesn't count for excruciatingly obvious reasons (if you know the slightest about how "proof" and "truth" work.

"1.bible.we were told to have faith.
everything happening now,we have been told will happen ,in the bible.it was predicted, its all planned."

Personally I don`t pretend. I know God doesn`t exsist with the same ammount of conviction that you believe.
Christians make up less than 18% of the population of the world but assume they have all the answeres dissmising all other faiths including athiism.
For 82% of the world Jesus was not divine.
I am well read and think you are just deluding yourself. That`s my belief. GET USED TO IT YOU ARE IN A MINORITY...

If you really didn't want to get into this, why on earth did you bring it up?

You pass judgements on our mental health -- simply because it doesn't conform to yours. And you're surprised when we tell you that you're wrong? Not only are you insulting, you're more than a bit silly.

I am not pretending. I grew up in the church and fell for it hook, line and sinker. I have two theology degrees, including an MDiv. The conclusions I've arrived at are well-informed, considered and educated.

Which is far more than we can say for your arrogant rant.

I think it's nice that you care about these people who are "doomed" as you say to hell. But they are as free as you are to believe in whatever they want to; or to not believe if they choose to do that too.

There are nearly 4 billion people on this planet and you make up a very tiny percentage of those people so even if YOU know it's right you still have no right to JUDGE other people and say that they are pretending to ignore a God.

When I was in Sunday school I was taught to not judge other people because that was considered to be a great sin.

Alot of folks do it because of extreme stubborness, or just lack of faith. Then again, some people just don't believe because nowadays it is "cool" to be an athiest and slam God constantly. Then you have those people who desire attention so much that they don't know what else to do. These are the same people that finally join cults and become pagans or Satantists, just for attention and then it gets out of hand.

All we can do is offer them the truth in a polite but very straightforward and no-nonsense way. We can't "beat around the bush" and sugar coat everything, or things will start getting extremely messed up like they are now.
Be steadfast in your faith and seek God with an open heart and mind, and you will inevitably be led to the truth. Trust in Him!

Some people really dont believe for whatever reason.

I personally do believe but can understand why some people dont, in the bible it says dont judge those who dont believe but rather try to spread the good word of the gospal.

Their will always be some who dont believe and they can deal with that when the day of judgement comes.

I'm not saying I do or don't believe in god....honestly it's not important enough for me to put out the effort to decide...I will say that if there is a god, he/she/it is an ***hole, lol. I have a question to answer your question, because for some reason people view that as being "wiser" lol....

Why do people insist on absolving themselves of guilt by creating things like religions, with ever-changing rules, creating a system that the creators themselves cannot beat....instead of just saying "Yeah, I did it" and either getting over it, or taking action in THIS world to make it right to whomever they wronged, instead of "telling god your sorry and making it right in the kingdom of heaven".....I mean, come on, that even just SOUNDS silly!!!

Dear, I know it seems that way to you, but you are not allowing yourself to step into the Atheist's shoes and see the world from their perspective. It's ok if you do not wish to imagine what it would be like to not believe in God, but you should not assume that you know what the world looks like from their perspective.

They do not want to go to hell. If they believed in hell, they would want to avoid it. I know that God is obvious to you, but He is not obvious to them. They have legitimate questions about the existence of God and evil in the world, and about contradictions in the Bible and so on. They are using their minds to the best of their abilities. And they simply do not see things like you do.

If they "knew the truth" as you say, they would not be Atheists. But in fact, they do not "know" that God is real, or that the Bible is true. They are not knowingly rejecting what you hold to be the truth. They simply do not believe it's the truth.

What if I said to you, "Why do you pretend not to believe in the Koran? You know it's the truth! You will one day have to answer to Allah for why you were not a Muslim! Why do you want to go to hell?"
How does that sound to you? Because that is the same way that your question sounds to an Atheist.

I suggest you go to religioustolerance.org. Not everyone believes the same thing as you or has the same concept of deity and hell. They aren't insane. They were just raised differently and taught to believe different things.
edit: What is that saying? 'Just because it is written does not mean that it is fact'. People can go around in circles saying 'God is real because the Bible says so' and then say 'The Bible is truth because it is the word of God'. The same could be applied to the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I do believe that his Noodliness also has a Bible.
