I am confused about the sizing of pants/ jeans? How is it possible to be a size six and still be 35 pounds over weight. I am 5 feet 3 inches tall and I weigh 160 pounds. I am in the proess of losing weight, and my goal is between 125-130. I know I could go smaller, but being a stick figure isn' for me. As long as I am within a healthy wieght range that is all that matters. What I don't get is how I can still be 160 and fit into size six pants. Are consummers being duped when it comes to sizes. I am of average height and I have never heard of anyone my height being a size 6-8 at 160lbs. Is it my frame or have the sizes gotten bigger?

dont look at the scale - muscle is more dense (one pound of muscle looks smaller than one pund of fat).
size is what matters.
im 6ft and people always guess my weight 30lbs less than it actually is because i have a lot of muscle.

It's to do with frame size and how much muscle you have. If you are larger boned than the average person and/or have more muscle mass, you will weigh more due to the weight of your bone/muscle mass and not excess fat. Bone and muscle are much more dense than fat and so take up less space, which will make you a smaller size.

I'm 5ft2, 120lb, 25% body fat and a size 6-8. I know if I was 160lb, I would probably be a size 16. You can have your body fat percentage tested to make sure it is healthy. Between 18%-32% body fat is considered normal for an average female. You will also be able to calculate your lean body mass, ie how much of your weight comes from muscle/bone.

It's all about the frame. I'm 5'2. I weigh 125. I wear a 4-6 because my weight is more in muscle then in flab.
