"A man can have sexual pleasure from a child as young as a baby.
However, he should not penetrate. If he penetrates and the child is
harmed then he should be responsible for her subsistence all her life.
This girl, however would not count as one of his four permanent wives".

From a speech in Tehran in 1979

I didn't like the guy when he was alive or before I heard this quote. I really couldn't like him much less but it does give me a small sense of vindication for considering him a lower life form for all these years.

This guy is a nutty bastard! In Islam, sexual pleasure can only be from marrige, and a girl can get married only after reaching puberty, and is supposed to be able 2 make her choice on who her husband is. Forcing a girl to marry someone she doesnt want is forbidden in Islam, as stated in the Quraan. However, the practice of doing so in some Islamic and Arabic countries is merely cz of the stupid traditional retarded mentality some people have there. It has nothing to do with Islam.
I am a muslim girl and i chose my fiance by myself, and we got happily engaged after knowing and loving each other, and my parents gave us their blessings and are so happy for me! with the fact that we are a conservative muslim family, and ive memorised the whole Quraan in my childhood.

I have seen that quote in a few places. They are always on Rightwing sites and posted by rightwingnuts.
It is noitable that theyu sources given for it vary widely and are generally nonexistant.
One favoured source for the quote refers to the fourth volume of a book that only has two volumes.

In Brief, that quote is totally a fabrication and simply a lie.

People should check the sources before believing anything on the internet. Especialy inflammatory commentary.

Perhaps you can provide that video clip of that speech before I make any comment. I would be totally unfair for him, now that he is resting in peace, to say things I have no basis.

Perhaps he was dealing with real problems among his fellow clergy. Frankly, this does not worsen my opinion of him at all, as it is already at rock bottom.
