i know that i cant have a gun with me anywhere i go but i can still carry one legally right?

Different states have different laws regarding weapon permits. In the state of Florida I had to take a 8 hour course that taught us when and where you were able to carry a weapon and in what situations you were allowed to use your weapon. At the end of class we got a certificate and a fingerprint card and a form to fill out. I had to go to the police department and get a mug shot and get fingerprinted and the send all of the stuff they gave us in class and $193 to the capitol for a 90 day background check. If you pass the background check they send the permit. Its good for 3 yrs. and then you send more money to renew it. There are pros to getting it like no 3-day wait to purchase a hand gun but alot more cons and problems than its really worth like getting pulled over for something small like a taillight becomes a pain because when the cop runs your license and sees that you have a carry permit they will not be so nice to you. You would be surprised at the number of places you can't carry even with a concealed carry permit. I still keep mine up to date but I haven't carried in a few years. Most of the time its just not worth the hassle. Check with your gun store to get details on permits in your state, several gun stores around here have the classes right at the store.
