Actually, he's running for congressman or a seat in the House of Representatives of the Republic of the Philippines. Ain't he stupid?
At any rate, I don't think he'll win for two reasons. First, his opponent - the incumbent congresswoman of his district - is a seasoned politician who's certainly more qualified for the position. Secondly, I think that while Pacquiao's constituents venerate him as a sports hero like the rest of the Filipinos, they fully understand that politics isn't Pacman's expertise and they'd rather see him excel in the boxing ring.
In the unlikely event that he wins, I think he'll continue fighting but I doubt if he'd be able to concentrate on it the way he's been doing. He'll eventually lose some fights and retire for good. That's what most Filipinos wouldn't like to happen - losing their one and only national treasure.
