The reason why I'm asking is because the full-time schedule they have setup for me permently is terrible. I have to work at least 2 or 3 nights/closings a week and the rest are day shifts. Tonight I got out at 11:30pm, didn't get home until 12am, and I have to wake up around 7-8am to start my morning shift. I would rather work part-time to avoid this 5-6 day in a row morning / night schedule. Thanks in advance!

You can certainly put in the request for your schedule to be changed to part time status. But be advised they do not have to change your schedule if there is no need for part time workers.

Unfortunately, in the service industry, you're really in a bad situation to negotiate these sorts of things, especially if you're new.

I have been in a similar situation in the past, and was unable to get the business to adapt to my needs. I hope this doesn't happen to you, but you have nothing to lose by asking.

But think about this. Working such a bad schedule really provides great motivation for finding a better job. I had to work in a situation like that for nine months, but I ended up finding a MUCH better job. Work hard, count your blessings (it is a job, better to have a job) and work toward what you want next. Good luck.

JUST HAVE SOME PATIENTS , IT WILL GET BETTER , I'M SURE. GOOD LUCK . DO NOT LEAVE JUST YET . YOU MAY FIND YOURSELF FROM THE PAN INTO THE FIRE. ASK FOR ADVISE FROM YOUR PARENTS OR SOME ONE WHO HAS YOUR BEST INTEREST AT HEART.
