Cancer medication stops cells from dividing by damaging the RNA or DNA. The RNA or DNA are what tells the cell how to divide. When the cells can't divide, they die.

Since the medication affects the RNA or DNA, I would expect the medicine to affect the nucleus of the cell where both RNA and DNA are found. I would also expect it to be in the mitochondria (DNA) and in the ribosomes and cytoplasm (RNA).
