i heard that when trying to lose weight its not about what you eat its about how much excersize you do.......like my friend who lost 17 pounds said she ate whatever she wanted, she said she didnt have to worry about dieting, she said she ate anything she wanted as long as she worked it off by doing excersize

Actually, it isn't true. In order to lose weight, you must burn more calories than you take in. She may eat anything she wants, so she doesn't feel deprived, but you can bet she is not overeating or pigging out on high caloric foods. She is probably eating normal servings but still not eating her usual calorie level.

FYI, you must burn 3500 calories for every pound you want to lose...no way can you do that if you are overeating. Even exercising an hour a day, you will not lose 3500 calories so keeping your caloric intake down must be done in addition to the exercise.
