LDS believe that if man obey the commandments of God, and by the grace of Jesus Christ, man will be granted eternal life, as in godhood.
Sound prideful? perhaps not.
please consider the following scriptures.
22 ¶ And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil.......
(Old Testament | Genesis 3:22)
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
(New Testament | Matthew 5:48)
48 Therefore I would that ye should be perfect even as I, or your Father who is in heaven is perfect.
(Book of Mormon | 3 Nephi 12:48)
39 For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.
(Pearl of Great Price | Moses 1:39)
Jesus said.....I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
(New Testament | John 20:17)
Are we not children of God? Is it really that difficult to comprehend the family relationship between man and God.

Yes.
One of the teachings of modern-day prophets of the Church is that we are here on Earth as part of an eternal progression. What Mormons cal the "first estate" was the premortal existance, where everything was laid out for us by God. Those who agreed to the plan were allowed to "progress" (for lack of a better term) to the "second estate," that of Earth (by comparison, that planning meeting in the premortal existance was where Lucifer and his followers rebelled against God's plan, became Satan and his followers, and cannot progress any further). If we continue to obey God's commandments, we will become joint heirs with Christ (as described in the 8th chapter of the New Testament book of Romans), and eventually will progress to godhood.
Several prophets of the Church have referred to it; one of the more well-known statements in the Church is from Lorenzo Snow, fifth president of the Church, who stated, "As man is, God once was, and as God is, man may become."

Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Galatians 4:7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Paul obviously thought so.

Yes they do and there is no real biblical backing for this. They do like to believe in the bible as long as it is translated to suit them, however the bible quite clearly states there is one god.
From everlasting to everlasting thou art god - Ps 90.2
Fo I am God and not man - Hos 11.9
I am the first and I am the last and beside me there is no God - Isa 44;6
Before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me - Isa 43:10
If you need Mormon text to prove that they believe exactly the opposite to the bible in regards to becoming god then let me know. I think they havbe prved it in their answers above
