i have a female that is 2.5 years old and a male thats 6 months old. we are wanting our female to have babies 1 time before we get her fixed. at what age should i expect our male to be able to get our female pregnant??

Depending on the breed around 8 to 10 months.

Don't breed the dogs. Get them neutered and spayed.

Both dogs will have better, longer lives without reproducing and you will not be contributing to the overpopulation problem.

Buy a video of dogs giving birth and enjoy that instead.

That said, and since you're bound and determined to breed your dogs.

A female will go into her first estrus at about 6 months - some earlier - some later. But that's just like a 13 year old girl having her first period. Yeah a 13 year old girl can get pregnant but it's not good for her or the baby.

Many reputable professional show breeders (and I'm not sure you fit that bill) will wait until their show ***** is finished earning her championship before breeding - at about 18 months to two years.

But be responsible. Don't breed. Spay! Neuter!
