I live in southern Idaho .I already planted some bulbs in one dog's grave ,/ They have not or did not come up so I'm a little worried about them. They are in Scruffy's grave for those of you from Pets-Dogs) and now I'm looking for plants/flowers that will come back year after year. They will be both Scruffy'ss and Liberty's memorials. It's get below freezing in the winter here so we have to fact that in this.

Does anyone have any great ideas of what I can plant in their memorials that will come back year after year and get bigger too? One idea I'm playing is rose bushes. Does anyone know of plants that have beautiful flowers to remind me of them at their graveside?I'm open to suggestions. Can anyone please help me out here?

Thank You for all the suggestions with this!

I like shasta daisies...they will take your winters, they will bloom from spring all through the summer, and they will multiply...and they're white and pretty :)

Look on the Internet for a nursery and check under perennials. They come back year after year. There are bushes, dwarf trees and several flowers. A suggestion, depending on where they are buried, a dwarf Dogwood.

Check on your growing zone and see what is best for your area.

Roses are beautiful, but should be pruned every year to produce healthy blooms. There are other that do not require a lot of maintenance.

Good luck

I love pansies. They come in all kinds of colors and they have cute little faces. They are only supposed to be there for the year but they always come back. I live in Jersey and we too get plenty of freezing weather. I noticed that my pansies came back every year. They weren't supposed to. But they drop their seeds and the next year they are back and usually more then the year before. I also noticed that people planted them down at the people cemetary. Again they came back every year. Some of them grow big like a bush. Ask the nursery. Maybe there is a special kind that grows that high. Or you can put miracle gro on them. I've done that too. They are beautiful and they take a lot of beating. I don't think the animals eat them either.
FYI- pansy stands for thoughtfulness and remembrance.

I would go with miniature roses. Most of your other perennials only bloom for a short time. Roses will bloom all growing season.
