Just stand tall and if your relatives all choose to believe the lies then just push them to the curb. eventually they will see what this family member is really like and then you can just sit back and say I told you so.

If that is what they believe then you really can not do anything about it but deal with yourself. You can only change the way you feel about anything even if you are innocent. The more you try to prove your innocence, the more you look guilty. Just take it as a strong feeling your family member has towards you and that family member is expressing it at all cost. This may show you how many family members really know you or care about you. ....good luck.

Strangulation.

Failing that I stay calm! Seriously getting worked up doesnt do anything but give that person another reason to smirk!

Send out a calm clear email to all involved telling all the facts in a logical, clear manner.
Even go so far as to apologize to the bad family member that they so completely misunderstood you and couldnt grasp what you really meant. (Annoys them like heck when you take the moral high ground! Heehee)

Just dont start a slagging war!! Very hard to stop once started and then things all just go down hill at lightning speed!!

Luck to you!!!

If you haven't done anything wrong than you don't need to defend yourself. Most likely others in your family know your being falsely accused, but even if they don't, let it be their problem. Allow your conscious to be clear. There's an old saying, "Ye Protest too much." This means the more you protest the more guilty you sound. Let your reputation speak for itself.

Question 1 does the rest of the family know her better then you?
If they know you and know her well enough to know she is off the mark then don't worry about it.
Also one of the best things to do is "heap coals of kindness on her head" which is to say be nice to her and act like you don't have a problem.
My mother in law treats me unfairly all the time but everybody including all her children know her and know me and they don't have a problem with me. Let your reputation speak for it's self.

Think of it this way. IT IS NO ONE'S RIGHT TO ACCUSE ANYONE. They should all be minding their own business. No one is perfect, and the person who sent that email wouldn't want their life emailed out to their family and friends, would they?

Again, no one is perfect, they must have a lot of free time and be very insecure.

Well, I would click "reply all" on that e-mail and send out one with an explanation. Tell them that it is not true and explain that you don't know why she would send out something like that about you. If it continues, you might take her aside and tell her that you can get a lawyer that will sue her for libel or slander.
