I would like the responses to be limited to collision considerations not accident avoidence considerations.

No, of course not! The safety ratings are based upon the probablility of injury or death in various controlled collision tests. The size of the vehicle was already part of the ratings.

The safety ratings are not by class, the numbers and ratings are absolutes.

I'm wanting to say the full size car is safer. Just because it might have a low safety rating FOR IT'S CLASS, that doesn't mean it's less safe than a compact car. They do safety tests by class, there's different standards. That's why on commercials you always hear "best safety rating in it's class."

its tough,but if i were u,,,I'd choose a high safety rated compact car....
