I just recently went natural, which means I have no chemicals in my hair, so I have a curly afro. When I flat iron my hair it is shoulder length. I like wearing the afro because it makes me look different and exotic. What do you all think in general? Is the afro hot or out dated?

Hey girl,Ive been natural for about 18 months and I love it.I love how I can sport my fro one day, straighten it the next, and even switch it up to two-stranded twists. Its not outdated. Its a style like others.Wear it proudly.

This might be an unpopular answer coming from a Black Woman but I think you're looking for honesty from people and plan to make your own decision based on what you think, like, and feel attractive in. But for me, and my own personal preference it's a no on afros. My feeling stem from my childhood and when my mother would put me in afro puffs daily, be it the 2,4, or the dreaded "my hairs uneven so I gotta have 3" puff styles. She never understood the terrible teasing I went thru over those puffs. Now I cringe at the thought. When wearing an afro, you're hair has got to be On, and by that I mean SHARP otherwise afros do more harm than good. So only if an afro is a look you feel completely comfortable in and you have both the time and skills to give it the care needed to look Good, than go for it. But for me, I think the afro is one for the history books.

Afro's are amazing to see these days. If I wasn't too afraid of cutting off my relaxed hair I would most definitely grow one too. :)

Afros are always in, just the height of them changes. As long as you like yours and keep it trimmed/shaped and healthy you should sport one fine.

Reminds me of 'The Ladies Man' movie. Not exotic, looks unkept.
