we were alive in the mind of God. He was already figuring out what exactly we would look like, who are parents are going to be, and what our future will hold.

Mormons are big believers on that. I also personally think that is true, at least in some sense. This is one of a few scriptures that makes me think so, aside from personal experiences which I choose not to write about on here.
"Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I sanctified you;And I ordained you a prophet to the nations." ~Jeremiah 1:5
Also, if satan can sin without a body... then maybe people have that option too, if indeed we existed in heaven (or earth) before. "And His disciples asked Him saying, Rabbi, who sinned this man, or his parents that he was born blind?" ~John 9:2 (I must say, this passage is also considered evidence for reincarnation. Personally, if I died before my time... say an aborted child, I would hope G-d would give me another go of it, so I could serve Him on earth/make earth a better place. But of course that would be G-d's decision).
Anyway, it doesn't really matter what you believe on this, because this is not a central part of Jesus' gospel message. What matters is a person's current and future relationship to Him. And that you've sincerely recieved Him as your L-rd and Savior. So, it can be said, that this non-salvational issue is a matter of opinion.

The answer is yes. Firstly, I would like to point out that what makes us alive is not the body, it is the soul. If there was no soul the body would simply be a lump of flesh. God created our souls long ago in another Realm. And then when conception starts, God puts the soul into the fetus. That's when we become physically alive.
If you have another question just ask and let's try to answer it together..

No, a person does not exist prior to conception. The conception process creates the person.

This is a complex question.
But I will try to give simple version of answer in brief.
God Almighty has made us all in form of souls first and even people who not born yet their souls are already exists. Somewhere, where? I am not sure where.
After conception God Almighty put soul in our flash body.

I will personally recommend you not to go in details, because this is not worth to spend too much time , it is better to find how spend life we got now to prepare our self for future, that is Day of Judgment.

You tell me Kevin C. I was payed a visit one night by the Devil. He hovered outside my bedroom wall while I slept. He placed a vision in my mind of a woman and man standing by a tree. He said to me as I was starting to wake up. I've been here since the beginning of time, I know who you are calling me by my birth name. At that moment an Angel of the Lord who was stationed in the front of my house struck him in the side with a Angelic dart. It jolted him something fierce, like it shocked him bad. He turned look directly at the Angel (which I never saw) and took off like a rocket ship, due east. So what do you think when he said I know who you are calling me by my entire birth name? This is a true story.

I'm going to assume this is a serious question.
Life and Death refer to physical states of being. Our souls are immortal/eternal, which I suppose you could say is alive, although without a physical body the concept of life and death is pretty much irrelevant.
I say we were neither, but rather another state of being that our limited human consciousness cannot properly comprehend.

to be dead you must first be alive.
our physical bodies do not exist until our parents concieve us. our spirits come from a great vault in the Heavens. the number of spirits in this vault are finite. that means there are only so many. it is said that it is when these souls run out that the rapture will begin and the end of the world will come to pass.

God thought of us before we were born. Also, God knit us together in our mothers womb.

Mormons think Jesus, Lucifer & us were all spirit children of Father & Mother God and came to earth.

But that is contrare to what the bible writes.

But God did say that all things were invisible before they were visible. But I believe Creator God is the Father, Word & Holy Spirit. Without God the Father, Word or Holy Spirit, nothing would have been created.

Our soul/spirit may be created somehow first, but this in the mothers womb.
