okay I got this tattoo on my arm like 4 months ago. I don't like it. So I'm thinking about getting a cover-up.

My questions are:

1.) The tattoo I have on my arm has light blue, white, and very little green in it. If i get a cover-up will black ink cover up these colors? Like I'm thinking of getting a black cross over it.

2.) If I get a cover-up, and if I ever want it remove will it all come off, but it will take longer treatments right?

3.) My tattoo length is about 3 1/4 and the width is about
2 1/2 inches. If I get a cover-up can the tattoo be about the same size over it?

What do you people think:

SHOULD I GET A COVER-UP,GET THIS TATTOO REMOVE, OR GET A COVER-UP AND GET THIS TATTOO REMOVE 20 YEARS FROM NOW??

do you have a picture of the current tattoo? please know that since it is light blue, white and green it is not necessary for you to get a solid black tattoo to cover it up. go to a talented artist who is experienced in doing coverups and you can get a wonderful coverup tattoo that you can be proud of.
i have some experience in coverups (i have a few) and i am extremely happy with the way mine turned out. SO glad i didn't just cover them with black. check out my coverup here:

(the whole thing isn't a coverup but i loved the tattoo so much i had to keep going with it!)

if you need help finding an artist feel free to email me and i will be glad to help you find one in your state.

If your not happy with it dont worry, it happens, even to us tattoo artists and those in the tattoo lifestyle.Firstly i want to tell you that you dont have to go as dark as BLACK with covering that tattoo up. You said it has light colors and a professional , expierenced artist could make somethign just as colorful as this one you have now.A good artist will know how to approach a coverup and give you something you will be extremely happy with. He/she will know how to change the picture without using much black. But to answer ur question, yes black will cover it up if you want black. but it takes longer to remove darker ink. Tattoo removal is VERY expensive and is done with lazers usually over a LONG , COSTLY period of time.
If you wanna cover it up you have to go bigger.I work in a shop and all the time people come in and think they can just get another picture right on top of the old tat to cover it but it doesnt work that way. so lets say for example u have a tatt the size of a quarter, and you want to cover it up, youll have to go almost the size of the bottom of a can of soda.

so if you ultimatley just wanna remove the tatt, or u even see it in your future dont bother wasting more money on a tat just to spend twice as much later trying to remove

good luck

I agree with the first answer. If you've only had it for 4 months and you're already tired of it, then how long do you think you'll be happy with whatever you cover it up with?

It would be a waste of money and a waste of the artists time to work on a cover-up for you. Just have it lasered off and forget about it.

Don't jump on the next bandwagon that passes by, and you won't have problems like this anymore.

why did you get the first tattoo anyway. they put a layout on your skin before they use ink. anytime you have doubts with something permanent dont do it. what if you dont like the cover up.if you want to remove it 20 years from now no need for a cover up. i also suggest you stay away from tattoo shops until you can make up your mind. good luck!

not to affend you, but i think your idea of tattoos is a bit off. either that or you havent picked something out significant enough, if you cover it up which will probablly be easy as pie(sounding from the colors you have) make sure its what you really want... ITS FOREVER, you really dont want to go the tattoo removal route if you dont have too. really think about it first... if tattoos arent really your thing(as it pretty much sounds) then just admire the ones you see that you like, but dont bother getting them. good luck with whatever you decide to do though.

I would say forget the cover-up and just get the tattoo removed. If you're thinking about possibly getting it and the cover-up removed in 20 years anyway, why waste the time and money covering the old one up? Just get it removed and be done with it.

Not to be mean or anything, but, LET'S JUST CUT THE WHOLE ARM OFF. I doubt you will ever be satisfied with any tat. Just do like the Yuppies and sell the thing and you can tell your kids you were a wild and crazy biker chick when you were little. You could mount it like a Lunker Bass. Tats aren't spur of the moment things. You kinda come off like youre too good for that stuff!!

its really up to u, but it sounds like ur very unsure its not to good to be unsure wen dealing with tattoos, if ur not sure whether to keep it or get rid of it then maybe getting rid of it is a better decison, just really think it through, maybe cover ur previous one with make up to see if u would like to get it removed, just try to think about it and hopefully u make the right decision for u. good luck
