I had a nasty staph infection in my ankle after a little tumor was removed. I took 2 levaquin and had an allergic rxn, so I discontinued the med. It seemed to clear up the infection so I did not go back to the doctor. I am supposed to have breast implants the first week of June, but I can not help but feel like it is unsafe. Can the staph still be living in my body?

You should not have the surgery before you are sure that the infection is gone. Your doctor can check cultures to make sure you no longer have the infection. You should also make sure that the surgeon knows about your previous infection. Healing can be a problem when you still have the infection and it can make your scars larger. You want to have the best outcome when you are spending so much money on surgery.

You need to tell the plastic surgeon about this.

The Staph is probably still living on your body. Quiting a course of antibiotics early without informing the doctor contributes to antibiotic resistance, which is why MRSA is such a problem.

You should also see the doctor taking care of your ankle. 2 levaquin isn't enough to fight off an infection. It may have quieted it down, and it could possible come back.

Yes, you can anticipate problems if you have surgery again. If you didn't go back to the doctor, how do you know that the infection is cleared up?? It could be living elsewhere in your body, and you could still have MRSA. It could be colonized, and you could be a carrier now.
Please, please for your sake and for the sake of those around you(highly contagious) GO TO THE DOCTOR!! The one that diagnosed you in the first place.

Good Luck
