Stop using A&D ointment. I have 10 large tattoos and I always use Lubriderm no frangrence. It stops the itching and helps it heal better. Do NOT scratch. Put the lotion on REALLY thick so it's white and then let it air dry until it's clear. Do this every couple of hours. I get compliments all the time about how vibrant my tattoos are and I've had most of them for 5-8 years. Also, once it heals, never go in the sun without using 45 spf sunscreen. You paid a lot of money for it, so protect your investment.
Also, while it's healing, wash it with dial soap several times a day. Get it good and thick lathered up in your hands and then lightly coat your tat with the lather. Use a clean washcloth to lightly wash the soap off. Do not scrub it.

keep it moist with the A&D, but make sure your let it dry for probably about a half hour after taking a shower before you apply the A&D. Also, you might be washing it too much(ofcoarse some is good) but sometimes you can irritate it by doing that especially if you arent using a natural NON SCENTED soap which will leave invisible residue causing the ichyness(but some iching is normal). Everyone is different but just avoid scratching, or picking at any scabs. as long as its not swelling more or looking worse then a few hours after you got it, it should be just fine.

Its going to itch for a while just keep putting the ointment. I got mine 2 months ago..never washed it ( they told me not to really get it wet) maybe you shouldn't get it wet and see what happens, but its going to take awhile to heal six or so weeks..if it gets worse call the place you got it done at and tell them about your problem.Keep putting ointment on it, I still do.

Hey, I have 9 tattoos, and the only one that took earlier than 2 weeks were the ones on my collarbone. It is normal for them to itch, and for the lines to be raised. Once it scabs up, IGNORE the urge to pick or scratch or anything to them. It will pull ink out of your tattoo. Just keep up your regimen, and remember that when you put a THIN layer of A&D on that you wipe off the remaining with a clean paper towel. It will help alot, and your ink will not bleed out. Good luck with your healing!!

The itching means it's healing.
DO NOT SCRATCH IT!
Keep doing what you're doing (ointment and washing)
In a few days, it will start to peel (don't peel anything off, let it come off on it's own)
**really though, if you have any questions, the place where you got your tattoo should be able to answer them**

the raised lines ARE the scabs. a tattoo doesn't scab like a thick crusty scab. it is thin and very soft because of the moisturizer you have been keeping on it. also usually the itching doesn't start til day four or five and peeling starts soon after that. just keep doing what your artist told you do to and remember... no scratching!!

did your artist tell you to use a&d? i never have used that on a tat. the scab will start coming. the whole thing might not scab over like a scraped knee would. just smaller scabs here and there. they all heal differently. i do use dial to wash it. twice a day is a good practice. but instead of a&d i use aveeno baby lotion. it keeps it moist and i think the lotion would soak into the tat better than greasy petroleum based a&d. either way, you are doing fine. if something weird happens just go back to your artist and ask their opinion.

Your tatt is doing fine.
You can cut back to washing it once a day now.
Keep putting the A&D on it for a lil while.
The itching is just from the healing process, the one on my back itched like hell. But hey, if yours doesnt itch and never scabs then more power to ya, it doesnt mean there is anything wrong, ya just lucked up. :-)

I used the A&D for a while after, think at least 5 days and it did get a bit raised and itchy as all get out. That is normal, instead of scratching the tat, I would just pat at it lightly to help bring down the level of itch. but yes, they itch like hell
