I would say LCD, I have one and I really like it. Here are some links for some LCD vs. Plasma reviews if you are interested.

If you want a primary television, you are probably best off with an LCD. LCD televisions have NO chance of burn-in, consume less electricity, offer the best picture in bright-room conditions, are less fragile than plasma screens, are lighter, and can be expected to last longer.

Plasmas offer a somewhat brighter - and some say more vibrant- picture, but can be damaged by burn-in, and are much more fragile than LCD screens. The picture on plasma screens also will become less bright with the passing of time. An additional concern is that plasma screens don't work well if you live at a high altitude - say, like Denver. They can emit a high pitched whine at low atmospheric pressures at that altitude.

A plasma TV might be a little less expensive than an LCD of the same size, but LCDs are rapidly coming down, so the price difference between the two is pretty small.

One disadvantage LCD screens had in the past is a slow refresh rate (which can cause blurring when rapid action is occuring on the screen -- such as sports). However, newer LCD screens have a very fast refresh rate, so this is no longer a limitation. Another limitation of older LCD screens is also being addressed by improvements in technology - display of deep black areas. Earlier LCD screens could not display a true dark black (they would like deep gray instead). However, new LCD TVs do a really good job now.

In my opinion, an LCD screen is your best bet..

Plasma has a better picture but the life of the Tv is much shorter than the lcd. it comes down to .... how good a picture do you really need. I have been through the whold gamut of plasma, lcd and many others and finally realized that when you get to a certain level there is just not that much difference. The improvements in regular TV provide a picture that is just outstanding and you can buy a great regular TV for a tenth of the price of the plasma or lcd. of course if space is a problem the flat screen is the way to go.

The plasma television sets are larger than LCD's and measure about 42 inches. The size of the LCD is approximately 37 inches. But a 42-inch LCD TV would cost $1000 more than the plasma television set. The LCD TV’s weigh lesser than the plasma set. The plasma television sets are bulky and therefore they constantly require installation. They are well structured in order to prevent overheating due to constant usage by a means of proper ventilation.

plasma has a little better picture, but not for dvds, or video games, which lcd excels at. LCD tv is the best choice to go with. Also the plasma tv won't last as long as the lcd tv by years, and the plasma will use triple the energy. Ao i would go with an LCD tv if I were you.It also depends what you are going to use the tv for to judge the overall picture quality anyway.

LCD because of what kentuck1 said they burn things into the tv if left on to long. like the little icons in the conner of the screen like the NBC, and on the discovery channel icon in the bottom right of the tv. Another thing is that plasmas are made with liquid crystals so if some thing were it happen there would be this green liquid all over the floor. id take the LCD

LCD hands down.

No chance of burn means the picture will not get burned in on.

Plasma has fixed pixel aspect ratio, which means basically you can see the lines and pixels much easier than on an LCD.

Plasma has a glass screen that is reflective, especially during dark scenes, which is distracting. Can also cause a washed out look in the picture, especially if dirty.

Other than picture quality, LCD is going to last you longer too.

plasma has better blacks than lower priced lcd. but suffer from light reflection, burn in, extremely fragile, use more power. lcd is lighter, not as fragile, no burn in problem, use less power. i would go with lcd over plasma
