Um, HELLOOO, Canada is a COUNTRY, totally separate from the U.S. Thankfully so. If it was part of the U.S. it would be totally ruined. As is, it's wonderful, beautiful, and a great place to live!
During and after the American revolution, the U.S. was settled by the separatists (who wanted to break away from England), and Canada was settled by Loyalists and the French.

faulty analogy - that will get you in trouble fast in the Canada section! lol.
faulty analogy -
A is like B.
B has property P.
Therefore, A has property P.
You have identified Alaska and Canada are types of States. Then that Alaska is a United State, but that doesn't mean Canada is a United State. Canada is a Nation-state.

Canada is a Country. Alaska is one of the 50 states and part of the country USA. Alaska wasn't originally part of America, but the land was purchased and it is now.
I don't really understand where your confusion is coming from. You should research Alaska and find out when it was purchased and when it became a state. Other then being next to the Yukon, Alaska has little to do with Canada.

Troll on dude!

Canada is an independant country. We aren't part of the United States because we beat them back in 1812.

Well, I guess I would choose "assumption based on incorrect facts".
Canada used to be referred to as a dominion, and part of the British Commonwealth. We are now classified as a parliamentary democracy.
However, we have many of the same complaints about our government as Americans do about theirs. Too many taxes, money being wasted on the wrong priorities, that type of thing.
Of course, there have always been rumors that the Americans would like to make Canada their 51st state. Which could explain why there is a US AFB in Ohio filled with Apache attack helicopters whose flight time and range is just enough to reach Ottawa, Ontario for a quick assault on Canada's federal capital. ;-)

i dunno why you think Canada is a state. It is a country, a separate entity from the United States. We are bordering the US and share many imports and exports but we are so not a part of it.
If I have to pick one of your answer choices then it's hasty generalization, just because we are close in location, and share ties does not make us a part of.
